Really like the feeling in this map. think the colors work well together! ^^
Wanna back this up, it's actually really inviting! Like the Tristram music started playing in my head that's how inviting it was. Very atmospheric.

Alright, I think I can afford to let you all in on another video now...
I think this was my favorite of the many trailers I made for Menagerie: Remastered.

@Monkey I don't know if it's just me, but the black and white of that game has a high contrast, so it could get quite straining to see just that after a while. (Referring to the Boned one)

Lol yeah, but I'm keeping it simple. It's for homework, so... gotta be done in a couple weeks.

I think after a couple seconds you'll adjust, we did used to have to play games like that constantly in the DOS era, after all!

That was a joke, don't worry!

I'm going to show you all some old old screenshots of games I've abandoned.

Let's start with this one, the Faerie City in Terra, a game that took too much inspiration from Final Fantasy X. It had a heart, but it was just a bit too inspired at the beginning for people to be able to respect it. Also the writing was pretty bad.

I am tempted to do a complete rebuild in MV if I can find time. Had some neat ideas and stuff, much of which has survived and made its way into newer IP's, for example, the cloud city above has become Spriteopia in the Origin Galaxy, and Monkeets are still very valid as a species.

So, it's nothing special, but this is the world map of the game I'm making. I only have about 10% of the first island actually done XD I just figured I'd share the map to see what y'all think about it.

I like the Volcano in the center of the left wasteland-looking island. The way the closeby biomes swirl ominously around it make it look really cool.

A few screen shots from me.

And these last 2 are me dabbling in pre rendered 3D graphics (think, the original donkey kong country)

I don't mind feedback, but none of what is above is final anyways, so it's fine.

I've been hobby-mapping lately. (Because I have no project and scripting for Ace is pointless now)
Here are my 2 maps i've cleaned up a bit after feedback from RMWeb:

This shows me how little detail I put into my maps, and made me realize I need to go through, and up my game for my game. These are very detailed, and has a lot going on. It looks great.

I love the oldschool RPG feel/look to it, and the start screen is wonderful. Your game brings me back to the good ol' days, the original Runescape type days :D

Actually, those are different things from different games. The first screen shot is for a VERY .. old school JRPG feel like you would see in the early days of the SNES... only a higher resolution.
The rest of them are from a final fantasy type game i was making and a phantasy star game i was making/still working off and on.. on.

@Bizzare Monkey: Geez, that looks epic. I'd play that in a heartbeat. Someone knows how to put together a heart-pounding trailer, I'll give ya that. My mind is blown! Just uh....a little less flashy flashy in the video. So many white flashes and stuff; my eyes couldn't watch it more than 1.5 times before whipping the towel back at me. :3

This RPG VX Ace project long ago went on hold, but here's a screenshot of one of the rooms in an ice cavern in-game. I use parallax mapping, in case that's a question that needed answering. Took like 15 hours to make a whole dungeon in this style, but it was preeeeetty. I had to.

It's going to be a huge game :D It'll also be free roam, etc. I want it as close to a MMORPG playstyle as possible.
It will be intense for sure :o

Digitalized 3D graphics, it was so king in the SNES era :D

I'd forgotten the ice caves stuff in FF7. I do remember the mountain peaks and stuff--MAN was that a huge game. I do remember one in Final Fantasy 9, it's like the first mini-dungeon you gotta go through. That one definitely was an inspiration for this. I just ended up using edited pieces of an RTP Ice Cavern background from Ace though, to create it.

I've never been very far in Final Fantasy 9 (disk one) because my old PS2 couldn't read the PS1 memory cards for unknown reason :(

The Ice Caves are literally the first thing you visit on the world map after escaping the forest.

Also why were you trying to play FFIX on the PS2... OH WAIT.

Gosh, I forgot it was actually backwards compatible, maaaan!

@EraYachi: Thanks, and sorry about the white flashes, I've come to rely on them way too much, hehe. Though I think I've gotten better.

Also that game is available to play in the resources section on this very site, so you can play it if you like. :D

I really like how the ice Cave looks, hmm... you remind me of someone, it was on rpgmakervxace.net, before I was banned-- this mapping style with parallaxing and making it almost painterly looking. I've seen you before. The name, Erayachi, rings a bell to me.

Do you remember posting similar things back in mid 2012 over on VXace.net?

1. After escaping, I chose the port route where Zidane went hidden and you play as Steiner. But after that, I didn't continue ^^"
2. I could have player on a PS1 if my PS1 memory cards didn't work on it. Buuuuuut... my brother sold my dad's PS1 all because I got the PS2 for my 17th birthday...
