I did get inspiration from both of them games whilst doing this, especially for the shading and the foreground.
I've decided i'm going to leave the blank areas as they are, as I think the minimalist look is quite neat.

Made some revisions to the screenshot before

 
@CM Games I'm glad you like it! I've been working on more of this style today. May as well share what I've come up with so far.
Basically in this scene, it shows the protagonist (guy in green) checking out his new neighborhood. I've carried on with the minimalist look. I'll probably expand on this street , and turn it into a little town.

I need to stop writing my characters like psychotic golden flowers.

But I kid, this was just a friendly joke I gave to one of my employees in an otherwise ordinary pastebin work order, she also plays Undertale.

Esperia won't go full flowey on us, she's too vain to allow herself to warp into something ugly for the sake of more power.

Instead she intends to absorb the broken soul of a red cat who has the devil-gene to become more powerful than the one being she fears, the mother of her Fionse. Blu the Spellweaver.

If she was told by a mouth she trusts that the Serazai turned her into anything she didn't like or could manipulate, she'd close her ambitions on achieving Serazai Status faster than a bookworm reads Sam the Firefly.

That just gave me an amazing idea.

A game that makes urban jargon as horrifyingly existential as possible.

On the flip could mean 'On the other side of the coin.'

Coin being the World. The 'other side of the Flip' is the dark side. It which is the 'heads' of uncertainty.

Hang om I'm gonna write this stuff down!

A coin world is a dumb idea, be so limited with environments and stuff. Scrap it.

I already said that's not really her, that's a golden flower who.. admittedly does share in her psychotic nature.

Ah who am I kidding sans speech patterns Flowey and her are equally malicious and psychotic. She's just flirtatious where Flowey is goofy instead.

But, now I think about it she does possess a lot of mood switches, though I think that's more of her show and less an actual condition.

I need to write that article on her, brb doing that instead of killing people in Skyrim.

I'm really looking forward to seeing your games in a complete or at least playable form, Aaron. You have really cool ideas!

Also Boned is already available to play just in case you missed it. :o

It was difficult deciding whether to put this on the PFC thread or this one, eventually I decided this one, I'll update the PFC thread when I have even more to report, and I have a lot already.
Things to note:
-Currently, mouse functionality is a no go.
-Collision support will be constructed utilizing similar ways for me to not have to do as much tedious work as usual. The CCC will have a job opening in the future for a coder for our MV plugins.
-The HUD had it's inlaid tutorials removed because it was messy and a tutorial could do way better what it still failed to.
-The map in the video above will not be a playable area in game, it's a testing room.

Here's part of the first forest area of my current game. The tent is in events because with my tent system it will be removeable.

Original, VXA version had 11 maps of 13*17 format, so here I'm trying a fused version to see if I can manage it the same ;)

Not a bad Forest, I just have an ingrained hatred of the RPGmaker canopy tiles because they completely defy nature.

Been rewriting some parts of P:A or PFC as it is now. Also, while Esperia's bust here may look super good, it's only a placeholder.

This guys bust, however-- is not.


Also getting into some creep.
