could you use my shadows you know how to shape them. and i am talking about the stone wall not the wood roof bro. the stone wall has lines in it it they don't look as if it is lined up right.

look close at the stone wall on the bottom. it is off by one pixel to the left and down

yeah that wall is just there to show a general idea of what it would look like lol. Meaning, when I added the 5th tile in the center for the roof, the wall wasn't there so I just cut and pasted small sections in there. That's why it looks like that lol, it won't look that way in the game of course xP.

It's a tile roof lol...
Ah, I see it now. There's a visual effect, similar to the 'one black candlestick or two white faces', where this has an ambiguous appearance. It looks, to me, at first glace, to be a bowed wall, ie: vertical. Now that you mention it, I can force myself to see an arched roof, horizontal. The execution of the textures, curves etc are fine, but there must be some way to alleviate that ambiguity..? Probably, in context, it would be resolved. Maybe a few plants, or more pronounced shading..? My artistic skills are more than limited, so I can't offer any better solution, but the effect is quite troubling, just the same. Have a look at some photos of arched roofs, such as aircraft hangars, to see how they look..?
S'good work, all the same.

I agree with Dad3353, it took me a while to see a roof. Even after you said it. Might be beause there is no floor, it plays with the head.

Af for the stone roof. Imo it looks like grey wood. Maybe add a few cracks here and there. A few missing chips of stone. You could also add a little shading on one side of each "plank" to give it a layered look (Or are they intended to look flush with each other?).

I know the feeling heh. I kept seeing it as a rounded vertical wall x.x

It's supposed to look something like this but beams instead of shingles: http://prntscr.com/cprlck

The problem I see myself is the absense of shading on the roof itself. It has 2 pixels worth of shading below the front edge (like all the other MV roofs) but that doesn't seem to be enough. It may look different with it being on the actual map (sorta how the slanted roofs people have made look like walls until that's done too lol) But yeah, I think I'ma have to try adding layered shading to the right side a bit. (Mostly because that's pretty much the side most of the roofs have shaded for the slanted roofs that is).

A 1 pixel line on each beam may make that layered look but idk tbh since it's kinda a weird setup as it is lol. I'll look into the texture of the stone one. I may have to make a larger seamless texture for that so it doesn't appear like grey wood, because that's what it looks like to me too. I can't however add any plants into it because then they can't be universally used sadly.
[doublepost=1475646469,1475597431][/doublepost]Alright, so some further thinking on the roofs has resulted with this: http://prntscr.com/cpzoei I have added in some shading to the right side and some lighting to the left side. I think it has added the depth it needed but I'm not sure the appearance is as good as it should be. Thoughts?

That is really good. To go with my shadows I would need to add a little. But for the default it works well. Looks to me like I would see my orcs running around in that town.

lol well, with this roof, you can make Hovels mwahahaha! I'll release the set and doodad set for this month's pack and you can modify them freely. Although, if you make it work with your shadows I'd love to see the outcome (as I've not actually messed with your shadows just yet myself lol as I'm sure you can tell with the generic MV shadowing on the side of the building). I have some other styles of roofs to make yet too but overall it should broaden the variety by a bunch xD since it's easy to just apply a new texture over the template for these (as seen with the stone one since I literally just applied a clipping mask over these for the texture).

I may do a straw variation of this one too idk though lol. Straw's a bit more tricky to deal with.

I was thinking of doing something like this but with all i have to do was not going to start another one tell i got what i have now done. I still need to redo all the insides. So this will cut my work down. Thanks for this.I wanted something different and i think this will work.

Np xD I have many others planned up for the remodel of my Weshrain City. So far I'm loving the look of it, but it'll look so much better with all the unique roofs I have planned. Next on the list is the steeple and church type roofing which should be relatively easy to do in comparison since it's just diagonal roofing and not curved like that one was. (Making curved tiles is a pain....seriously....I had so many issues with that roof, but I'm glad it turned out pretty decent).

For an idea of the roof types I have planned...a very very....generic...and rough....drawing of Weshrain's buildings. They will obviously look far better than this LOL but it should give ya the general idea of what types I plan to make (prolly in similar textures to the curved one too since that is the standard of this town).

The roses on the rose bushes are mine didn't see the need to make a bush when i had most of what i needed except the roses. If i made it then it would not have match the set I like to make them match as much as i can. Now we all have a rose bush that matches the default set and we can recolor it any way we want.

@Sinnistar ...

So much better in context, an excellent result. Well done.
Thanks. It still looks a bit off with the texture for the center tile (since they're 3 of the same one there it has this odd light edge on the left side, barely noticeable though). I may have to adjust the amount of light that side gets or change the color of the light from white to yellow to give it that "sun" look rather than a washed out version of the base texture. But other than that, I think it's great for the purpose of it. It also allows for construction of Viking/Norse type longhouses xP. Another very small issue I see is on the top curve it gets a tad bit jagged for some reason, or at least appears as such, and I would love to get rid of that so it's all smooth, but I don't really know how I can do that.

@Jodis I'll have to look more into your shadows and see if those will do what I'm thinking of that can improve that further. I think they could easily make it look fantastic, but it's prolly above my creativity to work with shadows on it lol. I'm more of the "base art" type person and tend to stay away from shadowing because I know I'm not that good at it. I can do the basics (like I did with the roof there, darkening the right side like all other RTP roofs, and lightening the left side like all other RTP roofs, where the center is unchanged because it's hit by light but not as much as the left side since it's technically the front.)

Well if you need any help bro you know I will help if i can.

Got your blue dragon we talk about done. The left one is the dragon for the world map.

Had to do a lit fixing the dragon horns didn't match but he said we could edit them. I think it will work out well.
