MV-tan looks amazing. I hope to see this character not only as our mascot but as the main character in the video trailer to the forum if someone ever makes one. either way I just want to see an animated version of MV-tan.

Just looking for some clarification here- The first post says not to use "any copyrighted" RM graphics. Does that mean not even if they are changed around with different coloring and clothes? Meaning not using the original style format of the sprites/battlers in RPG Maker itself?

If you are 100% exactly then it means that recolours and frankenspriting are forbidden too. But normally they don't go against selfmade chars in the same style so they are relatively safe.

According to the copyright law, if it's changed over 70% it is not considered copyright infringement. So, anything edited at least 70% by you will work.

70% edited? That's seems kind of vague. I've heard of that law, but seen it debated a lot in Deviant Art and other places about it's exact meaning.

Sorry for so many questions I really want to understand the subject fully (even though I'm not submitting any kind of mascot).
I never plan on using RPG Maker for anything more than a hobby myself, but I like to be knowledgeable of laws.

It is very vague. But that's any laws, and that's why there are judges, lawyers, etc. that get paid the big bucks to decide what their interpretation of said law is. Sadly, this cannot be summed down other than 70%, and that's really hard to tell when it comes to someone else's work, etc. Which is why our rules state none whatsoever to keep things simple. If you can't tell by our forum, I enjoy simplicity very much. The more simple something is, the better it is XD

I believe every country has some sort of different length for copyright and infringement. It also depends on the product that you are trying to produce. Although very difficult to legit set a real ground bases on what the percentage should be and how you could tell if it is are rather difficult as well. Popular beliefs range anywhere from 25% - 75% of change must occur on the product. Can't remember where the article was that explains this though....zZz
