I can't believe that I'm doing this.

Just hung out with the family, had a nice dinner, and enjoyed some relaxing Fallout 4 with my new video card.
Yup, same here. Well, I didn't get a new video card but I played Fallout 4 as well. pretty uneventful day really, don't much celebrate the holidays anymore.

But! I got these adorable polar bear slippers from my mom, and some new night gowns so i was happy :D

Well since you posted your DA, I saw you mentioned that you have Asperger's. Is that something someone is actually diagnosed with? Is there medicine to help with it? If the questions are too personal don't worry about it.

I had a former friend with Asperger's (one day he just stopped talking to me) that always absolutely refused to talk about, it so I'd understand if it's too personal.

Good question, and I'll answer this one.

Autism Spectrum Disorders (the new official Umbrella term for Autism related disorders, including Aspergers) is, like any mental illnesses a bit tricky to diagnose. Many professionals who are trained in the field have difficulty finding the right one. My psychatrist agreed to this diagnosis based on what I relayed from what relatives told me, (Inability to correctly guess nonverbal cues, understanding someone one moment and then having that understanding leave your brain the very next, beign cronically spaced out, social clumbsiness, and other clues) and agreed to that diagnosis. Unlike your friend, I put it out in the open because it best explains the occasional mental miscue I show, both online and in real life. (I make a joke aobut it: "Sorry folks. Autism just Spoke.")

Unlike some mental illnesses, like Depression (low levels of Seratonin) or Schizophrenia or ADHD (too much Dopamine) ASD isn't treatable with medications because it' doesn't depend on the more familiar causes of mental illnesses, Neurotransmitters. (You have to excuse the five dollar words here; I've done some lay research) Autism is more of a genetic way that the brain is wired; think of it like having a Mac Brain in an Windows World, especially with the Higher Functioning Ones that make you act more like Sheldon than Rainman. Those are better dealt with by coping with the quirks in your brain, and a bit more compassion from others than what some may expect. Not that he's damaged or anything, just different.

Thanks for explaining, I did have a general idea since I read a lot (though reading and talking to someone is a huge difference) and I do understand the terminology no problem. Nice to have a better perspective of it though.

Have a favorite (mostly) Sonic game? Always preferred the S3+K cartridge combo (that was such a cool idea) myself.

How about a (mostly) favorite Sonic song? I'm torn between Ice Cap and Chemical Zone.

It's funny I loved the Sonic games, but not Sonic himself. I am a BIG Tails fan. :) I could never EVER get into the 3D sonic games though.

Yeah, I'd like to show a point of view that, I hope, gets people to understand the condition better. Helps curtail some of the stigma

That's my favorite as well. At times I even add a Game Genie to the mix, resulting in a foot-high cartridge tower sticking out of my Genesis.

Blue Hill Zone, the most iconic.

My favorite Sonic character: Pre Genesis-storyline Princess Sally. Of course, I stopped buying the comic after Issue 52, so I avoided most of the drama about her.

ohh now I'm curious. what drama about Sally? I liked her too, though I only ever saw her in the anime I watched in the mornings before school back in the 90s-early 00s

Well there were denigrations about her attitude, her fraterizing with other characers, the way she was dressed (Only a vest and boots, most of her fur doubled as clothes) and other crap that you'd find nowadays from Tumblr crazies.

(Full Disclosure here: I had a drama of my own, not too soon before I left the fandom. At Archie's Sonic #47, they "killed off" Sally, of which I was very vocally against. My reaction was considered juvinile and rightfully so, especially in hindsight. I preferred a differnet approach that allowed a happier ending where Robotnik was defeated, Sally gets to rule a kingdom and accept Sonic's hand in marrage. And then move on with a brand new threat in Issue #51.

However, I was pretty much pilloried in the fandom, and attempts at other fandoms proved even worse. I won't discuss the Sailor Moon fiasco where I written a fanfict where one character ended up like Eric Cartman when they went against Zoicite. It was nothing but very bad water under the bridge. I even was thrown out of fandoms that I wasn't even considering joining, and found myself with an online reputation that ensured me that I'd never get far in any real world lifestyle, let alone politics.

It's this lived experience is why I am so grateful of you accepting me here in this forum. When I'm regarded as little more than a target for trolls, having a group that actually welcomes me means more than I can say. I can never thank you enough.)
