"Writing Buddy" is a somewhat loose term, to me. I have a lot of friends that write like I do (many of which I found through writing communities, such as NaNoWriMo)- and many of them help me at times with things like bouncing ideas and giving me input on things that I'm struggling with. But...I don't think I have a definitive 'writing buddy'- when I think of it that way, I think of roleplaying more than my usual writing. But I have a lot of people I can turn to when I'm struggling, all depending on what I'm working on...and sites like NaNo call the friends list 'Writing Buddies'...Thus my view of the term confusing.
That said, if I don't think so hard on it...I definitely have at least one or ten writing buddies, and am always happy to have more. I seem to write primarily science fiction and modern fantasy as of late, but I do all sorts of stories really. Sometimes, I just need help with things- like names, or throwing a writer's boulder off a cliff...Or, y'know, a map because I got lost in my own head.
Actually, a lot of my RP partners tend to be great writing buddies too though, since sometimes I find roleplay helps me get to know my writing characters more so that I can deal with some of the sudden issues that come up with someone else's viewpoint. But...I think the most fun I've had with Writing Buddies is write-ins. Those are always helpful. Besides the wordbots.
