I'm glad I wasn't very active in this forum for the prime reason that the terms of service allow the owners of the site to use any of my stuff without my written or official consent. While this may or may not be illegal, I find it out right ridiculous and demeaning as a content creator. You can find me at , where they actually protect content creators and their content.

Are you 100% sure about this? Can you show me where you see that?

What about this then?

Resource Terms:
CC = Creative Commons License.

  • This means you have to abide by what the uploader has stated for you to do. Example: "Must include my name, as well as my plugin name in credits, as well as have a link back to my original post" *Not Used for Commercial Use*
NLB = No Link Back.

  • Meaning you can use this resource without putting any credit in there whatsoever. *Not Used for Commercial Use*
FCU = For Commercial Use.

  • You're able to use this resource for Commercial use to monetize off of. You still must read to see if the resource owner requires any link backs, credit, etc.

This is straight from the Terms of Service on the site: " You are granting us with a non-exclusive, permanent, irrevocable, unlimited license to use, publish, or re-publish your Content in connection with the Service. "
even though it says right after that that I retain my copyright, this statement contradicts that.

Ahh I just was looking at that right before you posted. Excellent catch. (smile)
Well I'm still going to stick around here but I'm also on RPGMaker Web Forums as well so I'll see you around and thanks for the info. (cool)
Most things I know about this happened here: https://rpgmakermv.co/threads/goodbye-all.2545/
Still confused about this controversal statement there
Yes could we get some light shed on this subject please? (confused)(hella)

What the terms of service means is that the content does still belong to you. You're free to go around and sell it to other people and pick who you want to give permission to use. By posting the content here, RMMV is allowed to publish and republish it. For example, RMMV can show off a resource you made in like a youtube video or use it in a banner or something.

RMMV isn't going to go around selling your resources or anything without your permission. By accepting the Terms of Service, you are just allowing RMMV to republish it.

@MinisterJay summed it up the best.

Hello VideoWized. I am sorry to see you go, even though I did not see you around very much. In response to your accusations of theft occurring. None has. Yes, I get teased for being the compliance nut, on this forum, but this compliance nut was smart enough to actually press the link for "I agree to the terms and rules " before checking the box.. All it says is that the forum can use the resources that I have uploaded, and will continue to upload, can be used by the forum. I retain the ownership. There is nothing about the forum owning nor selling other's resources. This occurs often in business. It happens very often in contests, and competitions. I tutor law students and MBA students, so I am very positive, with my knowledge and research, that nothing illegal is occurring or has occurred. How can you get banned? You quit!
These terms of service aren't exclusive to us. These are the default terms of service of Xenforo, the web host RMMV uses. I'm sure most other forums have the same (or similar) terms of service.

I see what your saying but at the same time, the wording is very suspicious. I would strongly recommend the owners change it at the very least. In my opinion, with the way that it's worded now, it makes it too easy for someone (and I mean anyone, not one specific person) to be taken advantage of.
