Thread Problems

Hello everyone, StatusGearEntertainment here.

In reference to the thread I had just created [SGE] [Guide] The Art of Plotting it is clear to see the are some issues that guide has such as double spoilers. These are do to the re-editting portions of the threads that were set by pre-rendered thread coding.

Simply by going back to edit my post to change something as simple as one word and saving will create this. For reasons unknown after saving your thread the site will take the BBCoding and so forth and create duplicates within the thread itself.

This makes things rather difficult to go back and edit due to the possibility of missing some of the bb code by going into the BB code editor. To further notice the duplicates, I noticed some of the items that have the Bold code will have lots of repeats on them. For example:

[B][B][B][B][B] Plotting [/B][/B][/B][/B][/B]

Is there a way to fix such a thing? It takes heavy toles on my guide threads. Going back to my Guide on Eventing makes everything look like a warzone of code.

EDIT: Further investigation leads found that your spoilers will split and duplicate themselves when you include the colon sign and then proceed with a list of things.

This is very strange, and something I haven't heard about. If other people can test this out, and let me know if they too experience this themselves. I'll look into this tomorrow as it's late here. I'll be contacting XF and seeing if they have any explanation behind this, and can help me figure out what could cause this.

I can confirm this, in fact I knew about this a couple weeks back when playing around with the wiki. I totally forgot to mention it and I only thought it was local to the wiki. Anyway basically what happens is you use some spoiler tags or any kind of bbcode and when you submit and go back to edit the post all tags have doubled or have broken the tags completely, it can be quite bothersome, especially when you're a heavy bbcode user.

I try to refrain from overusing it for just about anything except guides. I will heavily design my guides and at the moment this has turned my guides into a warzone.

@Status Gear Entertainment It's really important in the wiki area, I can see a lot of scenarios where the wiki should be using BBCode and this bug is brutal. Oh, haha it's definitely because of VERDANA, I say we change the font and see if it fixes all our problems

Can you explain the exact steps on how to duplicate this for me, so I can test it out and explain it to XF so they can help out as well.

To replicate such problems with spoilers. Create a thread of some sort that includes a list of things. I.E.

"The Art of Sandwich making"
Only the finest chef's in the Krusty Krab can make the best sandwiches by performing these steps:

Spoiler: How to make a kirby perty

• Apply my buns

• apply cheese please

• apply burger

• apply lettuce

Then proceed to be evil about it.

Spoiler: How to steal said kirby putty like a villian

• stealz buns

• stealz patty

• stealz from the krusty cube

Then proceed to post the thread, go back and edit that thread and adjust by adding some more text or removing a word and resave your newly changed thread. You may notice your newly posted thread will contain a duplicate. "How to make a kirby perty" and the spoiler will not only duplicate itself but find a way to cut part of the first spoiler's content in a portion to itself.

I've asked the dev's at XenForo and they have no idea what it is. Of course, they're only trying it on their end, and not coming over to the forum and trying it. Which means it could be something with the theme. So, I'll be updating the theme, and if that doesn't work...

Would the theme honestly be the source? The problem seems to be when you are in the editting portion. Possibly mistakes between the rich text editor and the BBCode editor conversion code.

OOOOOH, you get it when switching from the rich text editor and the bbcode editor. If this is the case, please let me know so I can let the dev's know. They just mentioned this actually.

Well i just tested it and it'll appear as simple as "Edit -> More Options -> Preview" so it seems to happen along those lines as well. Didn't even have to switch editors.
