The Chrono Mage Chronicles

Hello All, figured I would post the description for our Saga. PLEASE PLAY ANY VIDEOS IN HD! In addition, ALL CREDITS for resources and other items you may see will be given IN GAME. I have worked with SEVERAL people to try out different types of resources from HUDS, to Scripts with permission or free license. A lot of these items will be gone with the addition of RPG maker MV, which I am working on the conversion for this title to now. Thank you!

Description:

CMC is a 3 part Classic RPG, featuring game play, similar to the classic Final Fantasy games but, mixed with game play of today's games. It features a random loot system, (i.e Torchlight) and a very expansive world over 10 x's the size of Final Fantasy 1.
Description
What is the game?

The game is a 3 part installment, 16 bit classic Turn Based RPG, with some newer features found in today’s games.

The game is produced and developed in RPG Maker VX ACE and NOW MV, as well as Photoshop, and Articy Draft.

The game features classic 16 bit graphics that would be found in games such as Final Fantasy 2-6, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and other games from the 1980’s and 1990’s.

Main features of the game include, a side view battle system with cut scene animated special attacks, brilliant spell effects, custom artwork, new style custom character sprites, featuring over 50 playable characters throughout the player’s journey, a high quality soundtrack from community musicians, custom character classes, and a random loot system from today’s games like Diablo, Torchlight, and Sacred, but in a classic Final Fantasy setting.

The game will boast an incredibly large world setting, where some “kingdoms” will be about the size of the world map in Final Fantasy 1. Thus making this game quite possibly the largest Classic Styled RPG ever created. The game will also feature at least 75-100 hours of game play per installment, if not more.

A mature and twisting story, over 15 years in the making that will take the player through the Kingdoms of Ki, and the life of the Chrono Mage.

Brief Overview of the Game:

The story takes place in the Land of Ki which is highly influenced with “Asian Culture”. The Eastern Kingdoms are more Victorian European in nature, with technology advances that has generated a “Steam Punk Era”.

The first installment, "The Kingdoms of Ki" will stay on the continent of Ki, where magic has started erupting across the nations. The player will explore the world which is alive with ancient elementals and mystical creatures from myth and lore.

The Nation of Feng has waged war with it’s surrounding nations, slowly wiping out other Royal Families. One such nation was, Shirotsu, the land of the Phoenix.

During the siege on the Shirotsu Palace, the “Oracle”, a Chrono Mage, saves the life of a child. The game will follow her travels, as she tries to save the kingdoms.

This looks awesome (puppy eyes) I'm totally looking forward to a demo or anything. The stuff you show here is great. So you're converting it to mv right now?

Unfortunately I'm downloading a game to play with my friend right now so I'm too laggy to view your video, but I will totally check it out later! :D it definitely sounds like something I'll be interested in ^_^ (will edit this post with my thoughts later)

I did have a question for you though--do you think you could let me know the names of the scripts you use to make your battles so cool? Mainly the HP bars and animated battlers I really love! The little portraits/hp bars of heroes in battle is a nice touch too. (oops, sorry if I shouldn't be asking this here, I just thought they were really neat! you can just post on my profile to keep your game thread uncluttered if you don't mind, I'd really appreciate it~)

@Micro Sorry for the late response. Easy way to list the scripts (plugins for MV)is to just send you to Yanfly's website. I use the majority of the plugins there and if I am not using some of them atm, I have them all downloaded just in case I find a use for them. The point is to make a really customized RPG that doesnt totally look or feel like RPG maker, even though RPG maker game engine is based on FF Classic Series...

Impressed with the parallax mapping. Will have to learn this technique since I'm not a massive fan with the VX style tiles. I find them less... flexible... than the XP era ones.

Hi @The Chrono Mage !
One kingdom as huge as the FF1 world map? Great, more sleepless days. >=D
I want to mention that I liked that your characters actually moved towards close to the enemies TO DELIVER A MELEE ATTACK, and not just like IN MANY RM GAMES AND FF-LIKE GAMES where the character just swing their weapon in doing melee attack and poof a magical force hit the enemies. >=(
