Super Simple Plot Thread

Okay pardon me if there is a thread like this, but I looked and didn't see one lol.

anyway, after reading this article: http://rpgmaker.net/articles/465/ I realized it can definitely be tough to decide what to do with your first game-making project. plots tend to twist and turn and evolve all the time, but it can be a pain trying to find a starting point

so! I wanted to create a thread full of very simple, vague ideas--"prompts"-- to hopefully inspire others and get the ideas rolling in. I cannot do it without you guys, so I need your help! really, just post anything that comes to mind. :)

no need to come up with anything amazing, because even the smallest ideas can inspire greatness!

you can post plot ideas, settings, or even a character idea that you think might help give someone a start, but remember: keep it simple!

I'll start...

1. A lonely wanderer finds a mysterious egg

2. A child makes a wish and it comes true later in his/her life -- "Be careful what you wish for"

3. A human raised by a half-beast tribe--whose side will he take in the war?

4. A mysterious relic, a key to another world... where does it lead?

5. Vengeful ranger kidnaps princess, she is actually a sorceress in disguise--where is the real princess?
(Maybe they team up to overthrow the throne? Some kind of "villain" story would be neat.)

6. A pirate's journey around the world, but his latest plunder has gotten him into trouble...

okay that's all for now. it's good to sometimes sit down and think about random ideas and write 'em down, can help you get into a more creative mood too!

Hmm.. How about these:
The protagonist is trying to publish their first book (magazine, etc.)
You have 72 hours to fufill yor dreams before you die
You have to find out if your crush likes you before the school dance

 

[Macro]

Captured by a mad scientist and must escape a maze/tower (lab).
Stranded on a beach and seek items littered around to build an escape method.
Build a dream hero team as a leader/teacher and teach them abilities, spells, fighting methods, etc. to fight a boss (planet's last hope).

Hero(ine) recieves a visit from a life-ensurance salesman with an unpronunciable name, then discovers he sold his soul for eternity in hell.

A child runs away from home and gets lost, along the way trying to get back home it's imagination wanders and people become monsters, aliens and whatnot.

Teen decides to form a band/group and has to make friends with each member.

Oooooo...I like this topic. Prolly gonna start stealing ideas from here and just making stuff to make it. Who cares if it's good/epic/original/etc when it's your first go at it, right? XD

My ideas:
You discover your dog is a space alien bent on taking over the world.
All your child's toys become living, life-size versions of what they represent.
You are sent across town on an errand, but something strange happens...

Hmmm, so a Toy Soldier would have a meaning such as the desperation of war and become a terrified man, bent by paranoia, or a Barbie Doll would be a representation of the Patriarchal society, thus becoming a subservient woman with great looks and no smarts.

My kid was playing with his dragon next to me as I typed that. I was thinking more along the lines of literal representations, like a stampede of mechanical dinosaurs suddenly storming down the street ala Jumanji. Your take on it sounds very interesting though! XD

. . .for me, writing a story is just like raising a child. . .
