Programmer trying a first hobby professional game

Hi, my name's Yanick (and with that anyone with little Google skill can find the rest of me on the Web, I do not make efforts to conceal my identity), and I have been programming for the past 20+ years, starting at age 16. Back then, games were in DOS, using QuickBasic and all. Small games, and I think I may have some diskettes of a few projects somewhere, but who knows if they still even work, now!

Through the years, I have tried a few game engines, but none of them made it simple enough to actually put much efforts in a real project. I code for a living, and I am involved in many, many, many things at once; so my hobbies need to be simple enough so that they do not consume other things.

I love story telling and intrigues. As a LARPer, I love the politics and turn of events. I enjoy video games that have this depth in characters, such as the Final Fantasy series, for example. And I have played a few LARP games that were worth telling through games (from my point of view and based on these experiences, of course).

Even if my GIMP skills are worthy enough, I am not a graphic designer. So, I will be lurking around for charitable friends and public assets for my first projects, perhaps.

I speak French and English is my second language. I'm married with two kids, and hope to communicate this passion for programming to at least one of them.

So, yeah, that's about it for my short bio.

Hi! Thanks! :) and I'm glad I can use RPGMakerMV on Linux haha! I have been accumulating sprites and tilesets for the past 10 years or so, and I can finally use RPGMaker (LOL)

I am actually impressed at the coding of some plugins, and was afraid to see messed up, bloated code... but there are many good quality plugins from this community and I can't wait to be confortable enough with the API that I can start contributing as well.

Now, if only the community would use a tool (e.g. Github) to host their plugins so I can properly comment and contribute :D

Someday, perhaps... hehe
