Naming an "Atelier"-Game

Hey guys,

I'm currently working on a game which is inspired by the "Atelier" games. Now there is a point where this game is worth getting a title and not being called "Crafting Game Project" anymore (right)
At this point I'm not sure if it's allowed to use the term "Atelier" for a game title because mine clearly won't belong to the Atelier Series.

My current title is "Atelier Malvoria", but as I said I'm not sure about the term.

If it's not allowed to use, do you have any suggestions for a title which sounds as cool? (tongue)

Greetings,

The term "Atelier" was a pre-existing French word that Gust simply chose to use for their game franchise, so there is no reason you wouldn't be allowed to use it in the title of your game. It would be along the same lines of naming your game 'anything "Fantasy"', where it's fairly clear where you got the idea/inspiration from, but it's not copyright infringement. If you named your game directly after another, such as calling it "Atelier Iris", but with your own subtitle then that would be different, as that is a copyrighted title.

I hope that clears up any confusion you have.
