Before I get started here's a little bit about me. I'm known from YouTube as Prime Games. I like to come up with plot ideas, characters, and more for video games. I could've been an author, but decided to go into the gaming field. I have an idea for a game and I want to know what you guys think. I'll be comparing some things to other games for a visual reference.

The story starts off when the main character enters an Imperial Prison; however he believes that he's in the Imperial Treasury until he sees a Female Prisoner. The Female's name is Cya and she's what is known as an Ascendant. An Ascendant is basically an angel, or angelic being. She convinces you to free her and so you go and find the Warden, but it turns out that the Warden is truly an agent from the Void (The complete opposite of an Ascendant) named Penumbra. Penumbra tricks you into helping him, and then he reveals his true identity and throws you and Cya into the Void. Upon escaping the Void you find Cya's friends named Osiris and Spec. The four of you head off to a town to get away from the Void infected area. Once you reach town you meet another Void member named Lorine. Lorine takes the main character in the Void with her, except she does it differently than Penumbra. You're friends see you at a dinner table talking to Lorine, when in reality she's taking you through the Void. After Lorine is finished with you she brings you back to the real world, and your friends are gone, but here's the thing..... none of that is the main story. As a matter of fact you play through four different timelines, and the decisions you make in each timeline will effect what happens in the other. Also the game will implement a feature where you will only have one set villain (Penumbra) every other villain in the game started out being neutral, but your decisions caused them to pick a side.

The first timeline is the one I described in the beginning. The second timeline takes place 10 years later when the Void corrupts the world. The third timeline takes place hundreds of years later in a Science Fiction Universe. Finally the Fourth timeline takes place when the Void first appears in the world. Toward the end of the game Penumbra uses the Void to basically F*** up time and it causes all of the timelines to coexist. The group of heroes from every timeline have their own role in defeating the main enemy.

The game will also feature Open World elements (Think about the early Final Fantasy Games) in every timeline giving players a chance to see the world as it changes over time. The game will also have very challenging combat. Making players have to change their equipment to the appropriate tier before fighting a boss. The tiers are: Light, Shadow, Ascendant, Void. Those are the main four, but you can experiment with equipment to create hybrid tiers. The game will also feature a "Love" mechanic where you can fall in love with other party members. Your Girlfriend/Boyfriend at the end of the game will heavily influence some things that I will discuss later on.

One of the unique elements is the fact that just because someone is a Void (Referenced as the "Evil" Tier) That doesn't mean that they are your enemy. As a matter of fact your party can have a person from each main tier. You can decide who your enemies are, and at the end of the game you have to fight everyone you ever wronged basically. IM SO SORRY FOR MAKING THIS SO LONG!

I'm going to make it so that the game will remember every decision you make. Once you make a decision.... there's no going back. There is still A LOT that I haven't mentioned, but there's some of the main concepts. Feel free to jusge me harshly.

BTW I am aware that the timeline mechanic can be compared to Crono Trigger so there's no need to tell me.

The "open-world" of early final fantasy games were basically fetch quests that didn't tell you where you needed to go. There wasn't much to actually do between fetching and delivering the quest item - besides the insane random encounter rate (which existed to pad out game-play time because it was literally just fetch quests).

If you don't mind, I will be harsh. The questions I write below are ones you need to answer for yourself, rather than answer to me.

What is the motivation that the player character has for breaking into the imperial treasury? Are they desperate for cash or do they have something against the imperials? What did they intend for their spoils to be spent on?

Why did you put so much significance on the "Female Prisoner" being a woman?

Why would Cya, a prisoner, want you to set her free, only to ask you to find the warden? What's her motivation to find the warden and how come she trusts the warden of the prison she was incarcerated in so much to give them an opportunity to trick the player?

Why are Osiris and Spec two separate characters when they are introduced at the same moment in the game and both have the same relationship with Cya? This seems like an opportunity to merge them both into one character.

What causes the Void to start corrupting the world? Being sent there by the warden and then Lorine makes it seem like it's safe enough to travel to, what caused it to later become a problem in the future?

How come the Void hasn't corrupted the world in the past? If it did, surely all the creatures that were capable of messing with it would have done something to prevent it from being entered or misused?

Having the player change equipment before a boss battle just to match the element seems like a nuisance (especially if the player wants to switch back to their better equipment afterwards). Games tend to give the player the equipment they need on the lead up to a boss, the older Final Fantasy games do this. That completely avoids the need to switch out equipment before the boss, only to switch back after (they also allowed the player to change equipment during battle, in-case they screwed up).

What's the motivation for the player's party to stick together and continue existing as a group of heroes throughout the events that take place?

Why is "Love" a mechanic? Wouldn't maintaining love points during the game over-complicate things? Do they even need to be "boyfriend/girlfriend"?

Thanks for the feedback, and honestly I already have an answer to all of these questions. The open world actually won't hold fetch quests, but rather quests that will effect alternate timelines, but are optional to complete.

The motivation in the beginning is indeed being greedy. The spoils were going to be spent on useless things to be honest.

The reason I made it clear that the prisoner was a girl is mainly because I wasn't paying attention to how many times I was saying it to be honest. She's a very important character to the story, but the significance to her being locked away is mainly just backstory.

And Cya isn't set free until AFTER the Warden is found. I suppose that was my own fault in not making that clear. You find the Warden, but he turns out to be the main enemy. Cya is not involved in tricking you, it was all the main enemy posing as an Imperial Warden.

Osiris and Spec are two different people because they are two best friends with two different personalities. Spec being the guy who has all of the heavy weapons and stuff, while Osiris is the smart guy. Besides I have ability sets based on personality. Making the two of them a single person would mess up the ability set balance because it's basically one guy with more traits then other characters.

Lorine's Void is more of manipulating the environment, and controlling the monsters within it. While Penumbra (The Warden) doesn't make an effort to contain anything within it. The Void starts corrupting the world because in that timeline Penumbra rises to power. It becomes a problem because the monsters within the void are able to roam free rather than be contained by Lorine's Void. (Note that Lorine and Penumbra have two different Voids. The Void is merely a canvas for the imagination)

The Void ATTEMPTED to corrupt the world in the past, but the Ascendants were far more powerful, and the Ascendants pushed the Void back before it could consume everything. The reason why it consumes it in the future is because Penumbra rises to power and basically becomes more powerful than the Ascendants for reasons I'm not going to share yet (Mainly because the reasons aren't fully developed lol)

You make a good point on the equipment switching. It was just a concept, but what you said seems much easier not only for me, but for the player. So I thank you for that.

Love is important to the story because it can dramatically change how things play out (I know that sounds weird, but it would make a lot more sense if you knew how the game was going to be set up)

I know you said that I didn't have to respond to you about this, but I'm putting this here for the sake of other people who may view this page, but instead they want answers. Thank you for the feedback! I actually prefer critical feedback because it helps a lot more than sugar coating it.

Definitely, Right now I just have the basic concept and that's what you see here. I'll make it a lot more polished and legitimate as development progresses of course. Also thank you for the feedback!
