Member Greetings, there is something I noticed.

Do you think we should omit Member Introductions under the new posts tab?

I won't vote, unless there's a third option. When using the New Posts link at the top of the page, I'm currently looking for "content", not introductions... so that would mean I have to vote yes. That being said, I'd love to have this as a preference. I currently have so much unread stuff, I want to focus on the stuff that interests me. But once that list is depleting, I might as well want to have the introduction posts in that list.

TL;DR This is based on preference, so ideally, this should be an option for people to choose individually.

PS: I am ultimately a power user. I don't mind excess configuration options. (snicker)

EDIT: Voted "Other option". Adding 5 options only changes the home page, not the "New Posts" forum page. It might still be useful, though. Just keeping everybody sharp, with a bit of FYI.

Okay I went ahead and added more choices to the poll, honestly I just want to figure out a way that is best for everyone.
[doublepost=1454189500,1454189257][/doublepost]I also noticed about the member introductions counting to your total post count was discussed before.

Maybe we can come to a good conclusion?

@JibstaMan: I would love the option to filter what I see, even though I look through all of it anyway. I'm just never sure what the forum software is capable of. (cheeky)

@DarcHiro: Thanks for the additional options! I'll pretty much repeat what I said in that topic regarding post count - I don't think it's a bad thing to have the topic count towards new posts, but I can see how some of the post-introduction responses get unnecessary pretty quick. I'm very much neutral to it.

The Introductions forum is still its own section near the top of the page, so it's not like anyone isn't going to see it and be able to tell if the unread posts icon (i.e. MV-tan) by it is lit up.

I'm all for something different, filtering would be my go to, I would love to be able to filter through really quick. My routine when I wake up, I usually hit up MV Support, then introductions then whatever else, so being able to select an option on the new posts tab would be an epic addition, being able to quickly post to all of them without going through page after page, trying to scan through and usually missing something important I figure out, later on, lol. As for the posts counting in introductions, I say we keep them for now, if it ever gets out of hand then we change it, but I don't see many users abusing it yet, and if that is their intention the introduction is still usually half decent, we can discuss this again another time though.

*coughs* Or... just in the actual thread for it xD

I think this thread would get a bit too cluttered if we tried discussing both of these things at once, though they are both related. (smile)

My 1 post worth of 2 cents: I'm not taking any sides here, but It can easier to deal with glaringly problematic issues or making a decision on them if as soon as possible they are spotted early. As I said before though, depends on the Staff. If we can easily say stuff like "if it gets worse..." and/or "for now..." it just shows that this is something important to consider in my opinion.

"Should we eliminate the issue/problem before it grows, or should we stop it now?"

As a member of a forum (Pokecommunity) with A LOT of posters, I've seen introduction posts and game thread posts (thankfully not here) clutter the unread/new posts section so badly that I simply gave up even browsing AND welcoming people. Adding some type of Introductions forum subscription option (or any sub forum in general) or something similar would be nice. I've never seen a forum do something like that before.

"What's more important- missing intro posts where over ~50% of the people just want the activation post finished with or missing posts with threads that have actual content and meaningful discussion?"

One can very easily browse the Intro section and look for and make new welcome posts (your avatar lets you know if you welcomed them yet) as opposed to looking through several sub forums that are mixed with littered (I'm talking about one post wonders) intro posts. It is small now, and there is barely 2 pages of new posts on here per day from what I've seen, so I agree that it's not a problem yet.

Then again, it may not be a problem for the Staff at this time or ever. If it's going to be unnecessary workload on our already-busy Awesome Xiffy, it may not be worth It. >_<

The forum's small now, so there's less of an impact if it's taken care of early, instead of waiting till we have a lot more members and then make a change that throws everyone off into confusion.

That being said, I'm fine with whatever happens, I'm a very adaptable person. :)

I'm fairly new to this forum, but I've been apart of many. I don't think there really is a problem going on. I go to the topics I want when I need to. Posts that are lost just get lost, it's normal for growing or busy forum. You can't really stop people who spam. It's just going to happen. I do agree amount of post should just be a number not a reward, amount of likes rather than posts as a reward would be better.

@GrantDaGreat68 First, I want to just say welcome! :)

Yea, there is no problem at the moment because it's not very busy. It's just something that was discussed for the future. Personally, I dislike "lost posts", but I remedy that by hanging out in the areas I post in the most. The main reason "intro spam" exists now though, is because of the "make an intro topic" requirement here to get fully activated.

You can't really stop people who spam.
Yes, they can. Spammers get the ruler, or the hammer! ;)
