Hey Magus! Great to meetcha. I'm Cate.
Good luck with getting into MV. What kind of block do you have right now? Is it something more story-based or programming, or...?
Well, I've had a game idea in mind for years... something I began waaaay back. Over the years it has mutated into a more fully realized setting as the old concept became fleshed out into a setting for my Dungeons and Dragons games.
I would like to revisit that idea or set something in the same world, but I find the stock resources I have somewhat lacking in terms of matching my idea. That particular setting and story may be better suited for the more serious and standard resources present in VXAce, which I also own.
This means I am starting from scratch and trying to see what stories come to mind with the components I have... which is almost everything after going a bit overboard during the holiday sales.
I'm thinking of trying to build a game around the cover art characters as I really like their designs... but then again, I'm torn between other ideas that are rolling around in the back of my head.
In some cases, I'd like to do some kind of sim game, in which the main character is shaped by the choices of the player... Another idea I've had is a setting in a city of Mages, with the character, their friends and studies being the focus, either again as a simulation or a more controlled story.
Overall, I have a lot of little ideas, but I'm having trouble putting any meat on them. In the past it was always a song, or a sprite or something that put the spark into my head... a hero, a villain... a scene.
I guess the problem right now is that I haven't grasped that one kernel of a thought from which I can build out a game.
