If we really feel the need to have a chat (besides Skype), we could consider creating a slack team. With channels and groups, this allows for much more fine-grained chats. It is - like Skype - completely separate from the forum, which is both good (no extra server load) and a downside (less accessible). Just throwing it out here as an option.
There are two huge reasons why we do not have a chatroom. One being that we want all of our data/bandwidth to go towards the forum and the resources. With having a chatroom it eats up all bandwidth and data going to the site. We have unlimited, however, no matter how much you have, a process eating system like a chatroom will still cause the forum to slow down significantly. This is something we do not want to have happen, another reason is it will cause a lack of activity on the forums. It has been proven time, and time again that though the members love the chatroom, it will cause the forum to become more and more inactive, and can actually cause sites to die in extreme cases. These two reasons are the biggest bases for why we do not have a chatroom. As stated several times by the members in this post, we do, however, have a skype you can join :)
