Belofte [noun.]
Promise or undertaking.

A pseudo-horror puzzle game, which mostly revoives around it's characters and the storyline. It features multiple endings depending on your actions and your relationship with the other characters. There's a bad ending, a neutral ending, and a true ending where you find out far more than you would in any of the other endings about the true story.

Seer is one of the first Dreamwalkers who decided to actually use his ability for psychology and a job rather than pure curiosity or for fun, or whatever Dreamwalkers get up to these days. Dreamwalkers are people with the ability to psychically enter dreams of others, and are able to manipulate memories, emotional well-being and mental stability all through a person’s dreams.

Seer, always having dreamt of helping people out, decided to follow a more psychological route, and after finishing off college, decided to apply for a job where he could properly use his ability. That ended up with him applying for a job in a hospital a train ride away, in the middle of a forest, where a man has three children that have reported having terrible nightmares.

This man is hoping that you can alleviate their nightmares and their traumas along with it, knowing of your ability to enter dreams and find the source of their problems.

Your actions as you control Seer pretty much dictate whether you succeed at it or not, or make everything just a little bit more awful for everyone. Of course, succeeding is a harder task than failing, especially when paranormal creatures decide to say ‘fuck you’. Literally.

However, the existence of one paranormal creature in specific hints at a much darker story, one that you, as Seer, will have to unravel as you go, or keep it buried underneath the floorboards, so that no one will ever know just what exactly is happening in that hospital.

Seer
Main character, and the player character. A 21 year old male who just finished college, he's currently trying to find a job where he can appropriately use his Dreamwalking skills to help other people. He's fond of cats and the occasional joke, and doesn't hesitate to jump into harm's way to help anyone.

Ivoric
Owner of the hospital, a 26 year old therapist who currently has three people to take care of. He's the one who sent an invitation to Seer to work for him. He's rather sleepy, and seems to be very scatterbrained. He certainly seems nice, at least.

The kids
Zywy, Mairead, and Levande. They're 19, 18, and 16, respectively. None of them have had too great of a past, and all of them seem to be suffering from intense nightmares surrounding those events.

That's sound really interesting! I like the setting. And your artworks looks very good. :3

Only one thing bothers me: The lightmaps. The are good works, but they lay normal on the map and giving it a milky fog that cover a lot of the map. Do you use a tint to darken the map? Maybe the would look better if you work with type "add" for the lights. Or is that on purpose?

Thank you! I'm glad it sounds interesting. :3

And yeah, I've been on the fence about that as well, but wasn't sure if it really was that bad- But now that you mention it... And I do, but the tint is done through the overlay image. The weird fog wasn't entirely on purpose, so I'll try using the add type! (Thanks for reminding me that existed haha...)

I totally agree with @PandaMaru ! Saw your screenshots and your artworks, didn't knew you are the person who did both XD No, i just forgot don't worry. I love your style. It's creepy but looks colorful and interesting, especially levande reminds me of a mixture of alfred and ivan of hetalia. I like this ouo. Keep up the good work, hope to see a demo soon o///o

That's pretty creative, especially the concept. I wonder if the enemies will be dangerous to the point we can't face directly. Like some horror games where you have to find a soluce to kill them indirectly (depending the ending of course). ^^

@Cunechan; Haha, yeah, I did both! Thank you! I've never been one of those people who watched Hetalia, sadly enough, although my friends used to be obsessed. Will do! :3 And I think a demo is a long way down the road, oops. ^_^;;

@Rise Evil; Thank you! And I'm planning on implementing gameplay like that, yes. Some enemies, especially the main antagonist, can't be faced head-on and have to be defeated with the power of friendship! Coughs. I mean wits.

Story -
  • Added a character. [Isn't he adorable?]
  • Added an NPC of sorts. [Lovingly nicknamed 'bubblegum'.]
  • Finished the first dream's puzzle! Now all I have to do for the first dream is write the dialogue for the cutscenes.
  • Reworked the intro sequence almost entirely. [Preview]
  • Working on the memory items/'collectibles'.
  • I'm still working on thinking of all the endings...
As always, a better way to keep up with my sporadic updates is to follow my development blog.

PROGRESS UPDATE {24 JAN)

It's been more than a month... Do I have stuff to show for it? Absolutely! Or so I hope.

Previews of stuff that's in this post:

Story -
  • Well, the story is being worked on... But obviously I can't really say too much about it without spoilering the whole thing.
  • Though I guess I can show off a thing that's not too spoiler-y without context. [Though spoiler-warning, regardless.]
The more-frequently updated devblog is still a thing.
