Hey guys! In case I haven’t roared at you yet, I’m Amy (@Amysaurus)!

I’ve been making graphical resources for RPG Maker for just about 7 years now, and have done my best to contribute to several of its major communities. I’m big on giving advice and honest feedback, as I think it’s the best way for anyone to grow in skill.

As far as moderation goes, I have both moderated a community and ran one of my own, so I do understand the work that it takes to look after a community. I always try my best to be friendly and open-minded, and because of that I generally have a more laid-back attitude around the forums. That said, if it comes down to it, I will issue a fitting punishment if the situation calls for it.

I already see this as a friendly and welcoming community, so I’d love the opportunity to make sure we maintain and continue to grow this supportive atmosphere. Anyway, if you have any questions for me, don’t hesitate to ask here or in my AMA topic! :D

Q: A member of the site comes to you and tells you that another moderator has acted towards them unfairly. You look into it, and learn that the member has broken one or more of the rules, but the moderator's actions are, in fact, too harsh for the nature of the transgressions. What do you do?

This is probably the most important to me, when I go to vote I am looking for why they will help keep this community stay the way it is right now. Knowing that the community will get much larger having moderators that know this, is important to me but thats just me lol.

Just some question I already asked another possible " Mod To Be"

What do you believe will set you apart from any other moderator?

Okay, so all of a sudden you get a PM from a user who want's justice, he claims to know of a member who is posting stolen resources, you check out the resources but are not too sure because you have not seen these resources before. What do you do?

You know a thread should not be posted under the specific category you found it, but when you go to move it you yourself are not sure where to put it. What will you do?

Q: Will we each get baby dinosaurs if you win?

Q: What will you do if you end up not having time to be a mod?

Q: Stegosaurus or Diplodocus?

Q: How much web coding do you know?

Q: Raptor or Tyrannosaurs?

I hope I didn't miss a question! XD

Q: A member of the site comes to you and tells you that another moderator has acted towards them unfairly. You look into it, and learn that the member has broken one or more of the rules, but the moderator's actions are, in fact, too harsh for the nature of the transgressions. What do you do?
I would ask the moderator if any previous situation has led them to believe that their actions were the best course to take. If yes, I would trust their judgement as a moderator. If no justification is given, then…

  1. I would adjust the punishment assigned to the member to what is fitting for the rules they have broken.
  2. I would ask the administrator (or whoever happens to directly follow, via the chain of command) if they believe action needs be taken against the moderator.
  3. I would contact the member and explain that...
A. The staff is aware of and taking care of the situation concerning the other staff member.

B. Their ban/warn has been adjusted to what is proper, considering the incident.

This is probably the most important to me, when I go to vote I am looking for why they will help keep this community stay the way it is right now. Knowing that the community will get much larger having moderators that know this, is important to me but thats just me lol.
I'd like to keep the community the way it is in the sense that it's very open and welcoming to new members that join. As much as the community is bound to grow and change, I'd like to see that new members feel just as welcome joining when there are twice as many members as they do now.

What do you believe will set you apart from any other moderator?
I believe my frequent work in design will set me apart from other moderator candidates. I tend to have a good idea of how to take an idea beyond a simple concept, as well as how to turn it into something that will be appealing for an audience. I think that will be valuable when it comes to coming up with contests/promotional material for the forum.

Okay, so all of a sudden you get a PM from a user who want's justice, he claims to know of a member who is posting stolen resources, you check out the resources but are not too sure because you have not seen these resources before. What do you do?
I would ask the user to provide me a link/screenshot of the who/what they were stolen from, so I can see it for myself. If the resources are proven to be stolen, I would take appropriate action against the user posting the resources, and make sure the resources are taken down.

You know a thread should not be posted under the specific category you found it, but when you go to move it you yourself are not sure where to put it. What will you do?
I’d look through the categories a few times, then go ahead and move it if I think I’ve found the right place. If I’m still unsure, I’d report the thread to get another staff member’s opinion on it.

If you win the campaign, the park will be opened?
Yes, but only if I can put a statue of you in it.

Q: Will we each get baby dinosaurs if you win?

Q: What will you do if you end up not having time to be a mod?
Q: Stegosaurus or Diplodocus?
Q: How much web coding do you know?
Q: Raptor or Tyrannosaurs?
  • Of course!
  • I have enough time to be a mod currently (hence why I applied in the first place), but I would let the other staff know as soon as I have a feeling that I wouldn’t be available sometime soon. I'd give them as much notice as possible, so that I could properly be replaced.
  • Diplodocus, definitely.
  • I only really began learning about web coding earlier this summer, so I would still call myself a beginner. I’ll be slowly learning more as I take further web design courses.
  • Tyrannosaurus, only because I get this gif:

If you manage to get elected, will you make a Jurassic Park Theme background for the forum? :D
I can't guarantee I would make a theme, but I would do my best to design some dinosaur-themed badges.

@Amysaurus you did a real good job answering those questions, your quite the competition.

I have another question, so you joined Oct 10th, and in 9 days you accomplished 129 posts as of now, do you believe this is enough interaction with the community?, if yes why? and if no, do you plan on spending more time, and interacting more with the members?

If someone is seen vandalizing the wiki, what will your recommended actions be?
I would do my best to have the original content of the wiki restored, and, if possible, block (temporarily or permanently, depending on the severity of the vandalism) the user responsible for the vandalism from editing the wiki.

Thanks!

I tend to reply to multiple comments/users at once rather than to every comment (see: this topic, for example), so 129 posts in 9 days is actually quite a lot for me. I think it’s important to make sure members understand that the staff, especially, is willing to discuss things with them though, so I would definitely be doing my best to post more.

The same is true for you, and good luck to you as well! :)
I think I'm in too many group chats for the Yell at Amy one to be going well. Maybe I'll turn that into a thread. XD

What would you do if an admin did something that you disagreed with, and why?

What would your reaction be if another staff member took credit for something you did without your permission? How would you handle the situation?

Team Xyphien or Team sage?
This is probably the biggest question of them all. So... Answer wisely XD

*This has happened to me* You somehow find yourself in what everyone else feels like a argument, or heated disagreement with another member. You didn't mean to do this of course. How would you react to the situation?

Amy, you're doing a very bad job at convincing me not to vote for you. You seem to really wanna torture yourself. :P
Amyway, question: Do you think you can muster the proper authority a mod needs and still keep the balance with that and the buddy attitude towards the forum members?

Let me remind you that moderating isn't hard until being put to the test. It's different to answer a series of questions than to actually handle a real situation. With that said, to win my vote you must be able to answer the following questions. They are broad enough and appear to be easy but remember, the answer can be said in such a manner that can be considered incorrect if it's not what is being looked for. Granted if I ask the same question as some already may have, I more or less skimmed over everyone questions.

Q: Why do you want to be a moderator?

Q: What is leadership?

Q: What is the difference between leadership and management?

Q: What is responsibility?

Q: What is the difference between responsibility and accountability?

Bonus Q: What is my favorite font and my rival font? c:

Don't knock yourself over with these brutal questions, every other contestant will be asked the same questions. Let's make note that this is the original post so you got to see it first. xP
