Hello folks

Hello everyone, I grew up loving JRPG's and I really want to work with RPG Maker in my spare time. I work as a writer (television, short stories, etc), and I believe that video games are a great medium for story telling; so RPG Maker, being supposedly simple and all, seems like an excellent choice. However, I don't have very much experience with Java Script....but I would like to learn, or perhaps commission plug-ins I need (is that a thing that you guys do here?).
Thanks for reading!

Hello!

You're a writer, eh? Sounds like interesting work. :D.
I hope you enjoy the community, and yup! You can certainly commission someone to make a plugin if you need it.

I'd say it's safe to assume most of the users here use Paypal, but I can't account for everyone, lol.

There is the skill trading on the forum where you can exchange some skills for other (money works too for sure) maybe you can try to exchange your writing skills for plugins? And since you're new try to look at Yanfly who made a lot of useful plugins already! Anyway, welcome!

Huh, that's really cool! I will definitely check out the exchange forum. Thanks for letting me know about Yanfly, would never have known about him otherwise.

Musician here! :D
Curious to see your writing skills in action, so to speak. I haven't met many writers of whom I know that they were writing for TV. Sounds amazing. Well, welcome to the forum where there's no "envy" only "MV". :)

That game was sick with the combo you could create with. That was awesome :D

Too bad I only played the demo though.. :'(
Oh! I remember the Demo, it's what convinced me to......persuade...my older brother that we needed it. Has anyone tried to code the combat system for RPG Maker?

Hah, well my job mostly entails arguing about dialogue, continuity, and then.....finally finding common ground with co-workers and finishing a page or two. I am really hyped to write a story without having to be constantly arguing about how rich white women "actually talk".

Also, what kind of music do you do?

Soundtracks, of course! :D
Seriously though, in terms of genres I have no idea where to put my music. They're meant to be used in games. I do prefer to work with a virtual orchestra at the moment however. ^_^

sooooo, ambient music!
Uhhh, no. "Ambient music" is something completely different. Ambient puts more emphasis on tone and atmosphere, yes, but at the cost of a traditional music structure. My music, however, follows that traditional music structure. They're soundtracks. Background music. :)
This is ambient.
This is what I make.
I can get very touchy when it comes to my music. So keep in mind: soundtracks. BGM. ^_^

Also, I kinda got a "Disgaea" feeling from what you linked.
