What are everyone's thoughts on the new and improved character generator?
In my opinion, while it is a marked improvement over Ace's, I found it to be pretty lacking overall, especially when it came to accessories and markings. While I certainly didn't expect them to conveniently have everything I wanted, I still expected to have more to work with. And some of the weirdest things are gender-locked. Your dude can have a sweet facial tattoo or a BA scar. Your girl can have freckles or a band-aid. Because dudes can't have freckles and girls can't have scars..?
I was also disappointed by the fact that everyone you make is in the 18-30 years old range. One of the main characters for the game I am working on is a kid, and another is an old man, but it is impossible to convey those ages with this generator.
And the clothes options. It took me a bit to realize that most of the clothes available are literally just what the default characters are wearing, giving you about 12 different his/hers options for outfits.
In short, I really think that this generator falls short of what it should be. It's a decent option for game developers like myself who are not very artistically talented or who cannot afford to commission custom artwork and sprites, but only within a very limited range.
That being said, though... I am still having fun with it, and despite its shortcomings I am still using it for my main characters. So, I thought I'd show off what I have so far! And invite you all to do the same.
