Add a "Technology" forum category

These thread by CT_Bolt highlights the need for this: https://rpgmakermv.co/threads/can-i-call-functions-from-mainactivity-java-within-a-js-plugin.7531/ https://rpgmakermv.co/threads/need-help-showing-rewarded-interstitial-ads.7519/ (not picking on CT_Bolt, these are good threads with excellent questions, just that they demonstrate the issue best).

I was going to report this thread as requiring moving to a correct category, because it's definitely not MV Support and it's not Javascript support, but there's no "correct" category that covers this; mostly due to this forum being RPG Maker MV specialised.

I think a solution would be to introduce a "Technology" general discussion category, where software and hardware unrelated to RPG Maker MV can be discussed, including discussions about programming languages, platforms, APIs and posts asking for help/advice/information on these kind of things.

It could go below the "Gaming Discussion" category as "Tech Discussion" and the description along the lines of "Ask the community and discuss various hardware, software & programming languages".

Some questions about this idea:
Is this even needed?
Perhaps threads like CT_Bolt's example do belong in their category, due to there being no other obvious place for them. Perhaps even these threads should be deemed as irrelevant to this community and deleted - however I do not think they should be declared as not relevant to this community, there are various ways to deploy RPG Maker MV projects, and it is probably good to have information that addresses these technologies.

This idea is completely open to discussion.

I've been seeing this thread title on the home page and didn't even know I was mentioned. (jolly)

@staff
Do I get another badge yet? lol (trying)(pizza)(wink)(wink)
c'mon gimmie more, lol I'll give you a cookie for a new badge

Anyways...
@Xilefian OMG Yes! Wonderful thought!

I wasn't sure where or if even to post and didn't really want to post in the Non-MV Support Section. Also didn't want it to go un-noticed by placing it under a general category. So I figured it had some Javascript requirements and thus placed it where I did. lol

I second some other forum category or maybe other categories for each platform that MV can export to. (glad)

That's actually not a bad idea. It would pull my suggestion back into the MV section of the site. Perhaps "MV Deployment" categories with "Desktop Deployment", "Mobile Deployment" and "Web Deployment" and people can ask for support for these platforms and discuss various methods of integrating MV to these platforms.

Yes! That sounds perfect! I truly think that would be very helpful for everyone. (glad)(icecream)

Eeesh. I keep thinking I've responded to this, but then I look and I haven't. Sorry about that. (hurt)

@Xilefian @CT_Bolt Those are awesome suggestions, you two! There's always a sort of grey area when it comes to non-RM discussion, so that'd give a nice hub for it. I think what I'd recommend is adding a Technology/Utility Discussion section to the Developer's Den since it's not strictly for MV, and a section for MV Deployment to MV Support and Discussion.

That way the discussions wouldn't get stranded in General, and sub-categories for different types of deployment could be added. ^^

Thanks for helping brainstorm the idea. (cool)
I was thinking a structure like this:

Sounds like a good recommendation. Give me about a day and I'll add them.

@Xilefian and @CT_Bolt Thanks. :)

Nice! I went ahead and moved your topics to the right place, @CT_Bolt ^^
Thanks! It's not exactly how I thought it would go but at least there is another section.
There's not much need for sub-sections yet but if it get's populated more there is no easy way to see that a thread is "mobile", "desktop", or "web".

Up to you but I think I would like it broke down even further if possible.

Alternatively could just add a prefix for the "deployment type"
...but then we would have to do a filtered search to be able to view just the "Andoid" deployment threads.

Either way thanks for adding the new sections & moving my threads. (glad)(thumbsup)
[doublepost=1501808496][/doublepost]Also I was curious to see that the "best answer" I selected from Xilefian in the following post was not there and no option to select a best answer:
https://rpgmakermv.co/threads/solved-can-i-call-functions-from-mainactivity-java-within-a-js-plugin.7531/#post-45192

Since it is still under the support section... shouldn't this still be able to be "answered"?
