Team Xyphien or Team sage?
*looks around*
Go Team Sage!

Oh hey @Xyphien, nothing going on here.

Amy, you never needed this, you won my vote from the momnet I saw you in the list of potential mods.
But because I feel like it:

Q: If you acted reasonably against a member (Gave the appropriate punishment) and then the user started complaining that they were being treated unfairly and that they didn't do anything wrong, what would you do?

I would like to know as well, indeed.

What would you do if an admin did something that you disagreed with, and why?

What would your reaction be if another staff member took credit for something you did without your permission? How would you handle the situation?

Rank the following things in order of importance: activity, content, relevancy, order

Team Xyphien or Team sage?
- I would discuss the matter with the admin in PM. I’d give them my opinion on the matter, I’d let them give me theirs, and we’d discuss from there. If the matter deals with something I’m not 100% sure/knowledgable about, I would trust the admin’s judgement and give any suggestions I can.

- If the staff member did have some part in what they took credit for, I’d simply ask via PM that they tack on my name somewhere. If they didn’t, I’d send a message to ask that they give credit where credit is due. If the staff member refuses, or it becomes a recurring problem, I would bring the matter up with an admin or other higher up.

- As they pertain to this community at the moment: activity, content, order, relevancy. Members actively posting content in an orderly manner is what makes this a functioning forum. Sticking to relevant topics is what allows us to be a community. At the moment this community is still growing, so I’m okay with the majority of topics not being relevant to MV quite yet.

- The hard part of this question isn’t choosing between you two - it’s distracting you two long enough for me to glue you together and create Team Sagien.

This is probably the biggest question of them all. So... Answer wisely

*This has happened to me* You somehow find yourself in what everyone else feels like a argument, or heated disagreement with another member. You didn't mean to do this of course. How would you react to the situation?
I would immediately suggest that any further discussion/questions on the matter be directed to me via PM, so that the situation isn't allowed to escalate further in the public eye. I would try to ease the situation in the message from there, then do what I can to get the original topic back on track.

Amy, you're doing a very bad job at convincing me not to vote for you. You seem to really wanna torture yourself.

Amyway, question: Do you think you can muster the proper authority a mod needs and still keep the balance with that and the buddy attitude towards the forum members?
(Don’t think you can hide that pun from me! ;D)

It's just like when I'm babysitting - I know when it's playtime, and I know when somebody needs to go into time out~

Seriously now, as much as I like to joke around on forums, I do understand when it is time to be firm in a given situation.

Let me remind you that moderating isn't hard until being put to the test. It's different to answer a series of questions than to actually handle a real situation. With that said, to win my vote you must be able to answer the following questions. They are broad enough and appear to be easy but remember, the answer can be said in such a manner that can be considered incorrect if it's not what is being looked for. Granted if I ask the same question as some already may have, I more or less skimmed over everyone questions.

Q: Why do you want to be a moderator?

Q: What is leadership?

Q: What is the difference between leadership and management?

Q: What is responsibility?

Q: What is the difference between responsibility and accountability?

Bonus Q: What is my favorite font and my rival font?

Don't knock yourself over with these brutal questions, every other contestant will be asked the same questions. Let's make note that this is the original post so you got to see it first.
- I’d like to be a part of the moderating staff because, from the short time I’ve been a part of it, I can see a lot of potential for growth and development in this community that I haven't seen in others I've helped run before. There’s a fun and welcoming vibe already, and I’d love the opportunity to assist in maintaining that.

- Leadership is essentially the act of being in a position in which you are expected to provide guidance and direction to others. In this case, it is about making sure users are aware of the rules and expectations of the community.

- Management is about controlling and making choices for the community based on the current situation, while leadership is about providing the community with the motivation to change the current situation themselves. It’s one thing to go around to everyone and say “Hey, follow the rules!” - my job would be to make people understand and want to follow the rules of their own accord.

- Responsibility is understanding that you hold certain obligations to take actions - accountability is being willing to handle the consequences, good or bad, that stem from your actions. In this case, say I have to ban a member for a week. Based on what they may have done, it was my responsibility to hold them accountable for their actions.

-If I remember correctly, you enjoy basking in the glow of Calibri, while the forum is still strutting around in Verdana.

I feel like this has became a promotion board
Well hey! At least if it doesn’t work out, everyone knows EVERYTHING about me. XD

D’awwww! Thanks Jackus!

- If the member was complaining via a public post, I would encourage them to send me a message via PM to further discuss the matter.
- I would explain to the member what rule(s) they had broken, and why the punishment I had given was appropriate.
- If the member continues to complain or begin an argument out of the matter, I would ask another staff member to verify that I had made the right call, hopefully resolving the matter.
- If they still aren't satisfied, I would suggest they bring up the matter with a higher up.

Edit: I KNEW IT. I MISSED A COUPLE.

You know what... while we're at it: What is love? XD
Kaimen don't hurt me. Don't hurt me. No more.

Lol might as well actually :) anndd What is the meaning of life?
Google says 42. I say dinosaurs. 42 dinosaurs.

You've been quoted as a valued member of the community and have been contributing for, as you stated, 7+ years. With that being the case, what is your number one motivation for being moderator, and how do you see it playing into your game making life (as you may have to compromise art time for mod time)?

Why do you like dinosaurs?
I've actually always had a soft spot for reptiles, and I've always found fossils fascinating, so dinosaurs were kind of the best of both worlds for me. :)

My number one motivation for applying is to be able to see that this community is able to grow and function the best that it can. I often find myself inspired by the work and progress that others post, so being a moderator would give me that extra push to get to know everybody and see all that they can do. So, while I may not get as much time to work on my personal projects per se, I'll get an extra boost of motivation to push forward as I see everyone else progress.

I've never really had a problem with putting aside artwork to do anything I'm tasked with. It's the same as how I'd put aside a recreational project to work on something for a class. If a task needs to take priority, then I'll make sure to take care of it first.

With that in mind, then, what do you do if things start to take a turn for the worse? For example, if a future moderator blows up a management thing out of proportion and gets a number of members to leave, or there's a major controversy that splits the community in two, etc.?

If that was to happen, I'd send any members that had left an apology on my, and the rest of the staff's, behalf and reassure the community that the matter will be taken care of. Depending on the situation with the moderator, I would suggest that they be punished for any rules they may have broken, as well as given a probationary period of some sort, depending on the severity of their actions. Afterwards, I would mainly deal with damage control, i.e. getting threads back on track, deleting any especially nasty comments, etc.

If the community starts becoming split over an issue, I would encourage members to discuss the matter as a community. Because topics can easily become arguments when many people disagree, I would be watching especially closely in order to make sure the discussion remains civil, and not directed at anyone personally (I would suggest that any members getting into an especially heated debate take the matter into a PM between themselves.). I think it's important that the community is willing to discuss what's bothering them when a problem arises, but it's also very important that the situation isn't allowed to get out of hand.

You and google are correct!!, very nice, not many get this answer correct :)
[doublepost=1445524478,1445522409][/doublepost]Okay I thought of another question, this has recently come to my attention so I figured why not ask the "Mods To Be" .

A few new members have joined, their native tongue is Mandarin( or a language foreign to you), other members are having problems understanding them when they write in English, some members even decided to report the posts for help with translation or to do something about it. What is the best action to take with a language foreign to you? How will you interact with such members? If they seem to be posting too much messages where others just can't understand them, whats the best action to take?

In my experience, the best way to help people who don’t write well in English is to give them the opportunity to practice, so I would first ask that the community is patient with them while they learn.

If a post of theirs is exceptionally difficult for members understand (i.e. what would likely be reported, as per your example), I wouldn’t have a problem with rewriting the post, then editing the original post to include that version at the bottom. I have plenty of experience with proofreading/editing posts for a friend of mine that’s a native French-speaker, so I’m comfortable with interpreting what others are trying to write. Along with that, I would send the new members a message to make sure they know that me adding that to their post does not mean they’re in any trouble.

By being allowed to interact with the community, the users would be able to see many examples of how to better their English, and hopefully improve their own writing.

Now, if the new users speak no English at all, the situation becomes more complicated. Many forums include a rule stating that English is the language that users are to write in, so technically the new members could be breaking the rules if they fail to use it. I would send the new members a message to inform them of the situation, and find out if they speak any English in the first place. If worst comes to worst, I would try and direct them to a community that better suits their situation. While it doesn’t come off as the nicest treatment, there’s really not a good way for the community to be able to interact with a member that can’t communicate with them effectively, especially the staff.
