Seasonal/Recent/Occasionally Background Contest/Change?

Hello everyone, with the release of this months Halloween theme we've gotten a lot of attention on how good it is, how they like it, got tired of the old theme, etc. @MinisterJay touched up on this in a PM. This idea seems like a very good idea, and I'd like to get your opinions on it... Without further ado, here it is:

How do y'all feel about a monthly, Quarterly, Seasonal, or randomly simi-recent event where users submit backgrounds for the month/quarter/season/etc. and the staff votes on it, etc. The winner will have their background featured, and the color of the site change depending on the color of the theme. The winner will get a Badge featuring their image in it, with 10exp on the badge. As well as a stickied post of the theme tagging them in making it for the duration of the time it's up.

Let me know how you all feel about this, how often do you think we should do this, etc.

I don't see anything wrong with it, but I don't see anything wrong with the current either. As long as the background can be kept to one of the originals if we're preferring it, I'll be happy. Sometimes options can be hard on eyes for various issues.

Some reason y'alls browser is being registered as a mobile device and it's displaying the mobile theme. I'll have to either remove the mobile version completely, or think of another way around it.

Now check it out. Let me know if you can do it. I can now switch between them on the Test account. If you see that, and click on it you should see red text saying something about "Default Theme" you want to click that.

Yes, I now have a choice between Default style (Halloween 2016, for now...) or Dark, which is dark grey and red. Well done; progress.

I think seasonal themes are a cool and all, but I'll be honest - I don't know if there's much point in having fancy backgrounds. I've checked on several monitors/computers, and I just can't see them. It's why I was getting tired of the one I made - I couldn't see enough of the design to actually make out what it was.

Like, I'm sure there's something cool back there, but I sure as heck can't see it! xD

@Amysaurus same here, I just have my small laptop and no super huge desktop unlike many people xD As for banners/backgrounds I really like the ones the german vx ace forums uses http://rm-vx-ace.de/WBB4/

RIP. That's no bueno. I had in mind a logo/banner as well as the Background. Doing both would be splendid.

Could you take a picture of what you're referring too? I'm not entirely sure.

Only staff have access to this. Normal users have these options:


Ignore the image on the right.

All the themes you see are old, expired, and unupdated. Only staff can see them.

I do as well honestly... I really love how it looks with the forums! I honestly think it might be time to redesign everything here soon :) New theme, new logo, etc. Most companies, businesses, and websites do it after x amount of time, and seeing as we're over a year old now it might be a good step at the future of RMMV.co
