In Need of Crosswalk Tiles and character help

I've been working on maps and the main thing I hate about one of my maps is I lack a crosswalk- it has cars on the street, but no crosswalk, and I plan to have the character /walk into the street/ to go to a manhole cover for a dungeon. I feel awkward about that without a crosswalk...Does anyone have a crosswalk tile I can use?

I'd also like to ask help making one of my sprites float. I'm not fully sure how to go about it- the sprite is made with just basic generator parts...But the character is supposed to never actually be able to touch the ground. The story and images might seem contradictory, so if someone could help me figure out how to adjust that...

In Pandamaru's set of VX Ace Resources, there's an autotile pack that includes what I believe are crosswalks. As long as you have the license for Ace, you can download that specific pack from here http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/5353-marus-resource-collection/ and adjust it to work in your game.

As for the floating sprite, do you mean that they float whenever they move or stay idle? If so, all you'd have to do is edit the sprite so that it is around the middle of the actual sprite area with a shadow at the bottom.

In the sprites at the lower left, the added shadows are around the bottom where the feet would usually be and the character is made smaller so that it can reach the top of the area and have a look as if they're floating. If that didn't really make sense (which it probably didn't, sorry, I'm pretty bad at explanations), I could try to make an image tutorial that could explain how to edit the sprite for that as well as a method for if you'd want the sprite to stay the same size instead of having to downscale it

I think I kind of get it, but at the same time I'm confused- so a picture tutorial wouldn't hurt. Since I want the sprite to be the same general size as the others (since otherwise it might appear younger, when it's the same age-group...Though I should learn to scale anyway for making children), learning that would be a great help. But yes- I mean it always is floating off the ground, even when they should be 'walking'. She physically can't control her ability to float, and just constantly floats off the ground instead. If I were better at spriting and could tilt the generator sprites I'd alter the position, but at least making it float is the most important part.

Thanks for the link to Pandamaru's tilesets, but the link is specifically to edits to RTP for VXAce and XP- I don't see any on that site for MV?

If, by 'crosswalk', you mean a pedestrian crossing, I could maybe make you one? What Tileset are you using..? I may be able to adapt something...

... the sprite is made with just basic generator parts...
Could I see the sprite in question..? I may be able to help with that, too (but no promises; it depends on the sprite really...).

In regards to the crosswalk, I'm using the RTP tiles at this moment...Outside SF I believe it was called? I did add a D & E to the tilesets, but I didn't change anything outside that, so it's the same tilesets as any other new project basically otherwise.

For the sprite, I'll have to upload the sprite-set in a moment. It's part of a finished group otherwise, so should I cut it out of the group of eight?

@Juneberry ...

'so should I cut it out of the group of eight?' As long as I can know which is the sprite concerned, the group would be fine. I'll have a look at the SF_Outside Tileset now, and see what I can suggest for the 'crosswalk'.

I uploaded the file for the sprite, though I can move it if necessary. The sprite I need help with is the one on the top-right (so...Sprite 4?)

For the cross-walk as well, I can show you the map as an example if that'll help.

For the 'crosswalk', they already exist, but are just difficult to see. Here's where they can be found; see if they fit the bill for you..?
I'll have a look at the sprites now... (Sprites are numbered from '0', so Sprite 3...).

...They were right there the entire time!? I feel bad now. Thank you for showing me where they are! >w<

And Sprite 3. I'll keep that in mind.

Woah, I never knew those crosswalk tiles were there either. That's super great to know! I see that @Dad3353 is helping with the floating sprite, which is really awesome! I'll leave the picture tutorial here in case you still need it for anything or for anybody else who might come upon this thread and stumble upon it.

About Pandamaru's resources, from what I can tell, the policy for using them is the same as Enterbrain's: as long as you legally have the license for the referenced engine, you can use those resources in any other RPG Maker engines as well. I may possibly be getting her policy mixed up or wrong however, but from what I can understand from the link, what I said before seems to be the case. Also, you can find MV resources from her on here or by googling Maru's MV Bits.

An excellent tutorial, on which I will keep tabs. Very useful. For Juneberry's sprites, I chose to keep the same spacing, but simply moved them up to their maximum in the standard format, and added a shadow (yes, a big one, as the character is only just above the ground...). Not so much 'floating in fact, as simply not touching the ground, so I kept the 'walking' movements. They can of course, be re-done to have this fully-floating version; in fact I'll have a go and see what they come out like. Back soon...

...and here's a 'bobbing, floating' version, made following the method described above...
Thanks go to @DolorIpsum for posting that; I've learned a lot this evening. Quite unexpected; cheers.

Glad you found it helpful! Hmm, I see. That's certainly another way of doing it which is perfectly fine. I think with adjusting the size and where the sprites are placed, the method done in the tutorial allows for more freedom in the looks of the sprite, though, and as you said, simply moving them as far as the original format allows along with the shadow gives it more of an 'above the ground' feeling rather than a floating motion, which can very well work for some characters. Also, in my own opinion, the shadow somewhat makes the character seem off in comparison to the other sprites. Either making the shadow smaller, somewhat transparent, or giving all the other sprites similar shadows would work to fix that.

Oh, I didn't notice the update to your post. Those sprites look great @Dad3353 and certainly much more floaty. I'm glad you were able to learn something from my tutorial. That's wonderful to know ^v^
