To do this kind of an effect, first you need to export your map as an image, then open it in in an image editor such as the gimp and darken it / give it a small blur. Afterwords, save it to your parallaxes, now make a new map half the resolution of the map you want to show under it, give it the parallax and then set the loop horizontally and loop vertically.
