Pre-order on Steam or vendor's website?

Where are ya'll pre-ordering MV? Where do you think is best to get it?

From what I've see, it's about 9-10 bucks more to pre-order it on Steam, but you get the Essentials Pack and the Cover Art Characters pack included. I don't know if you get that on the main vendor's website when you pre-order it; it definitely wasn't as clear.

Me, I'm getting it on Steam, the way I did with VX Ace. I'm a simpleton, and it's easier to buy with my Steam wallet already setup. I know you can get a Steam key if you get the game on the vendor's website, so you can link it to Steam, too.

This question has been brought up on other communities quite often. The only diffrence with the Vendor and Steam is with the vendor you recieve 2 copies, the standalone and steam version. With steam you only get the steam version.

which is interesting, because the Steam version is slightly more expensive (to cover Steam's operating costs??). Buy direct! :D


UPDATE to add: seems Stema just put it up with a 10% discount so now it is the same price as on RM site... but still not as good a deal as TWO copies, for my laptop and desktop at work!

Well, I never got problems with VX Ace on Steam, so...I'll pre-order it on Steam. The price seems convenient.

Steam does a currency conversion, some countries are alot cheaper than the vendor. I know someone who only has to pay $25usb on steam because they are over in india or something. I have to pay 72 on steam, but 71 on vendors site, so it changes for everyone on steam.

I only trust Steam for the games, I've never been an adept of using an engine on Steam as I consider an engine software more personnal than the games. Therefore, I took the Degica version as I get both keys, even though I paid $97.94 (since I live in Canada). Yes I'm pretty studborn, but I believe it's worth the sacrifice for me, haha!

I decided to just switch and pre-order it on the vendor's website. I did that for XP years ago anyway. Thing is, I ended up spending about $12.00 more. The Steam price was $79.90 in Canadian dollars.

But I ended up spending $97.00 CAD (Canadian) buying it from the vendor's website, because the $71.99 listed was USD, and the conversion rate is insane.

Since it comes with 2 copies of the game, that should still be a deal, I suppose.

Just a quick note. it will be one Key for both versions. So only you can have both versions, you cant share your standalone to someone and you take the steam version. Just thought I would let you know :)

But someone with a laptop can use the Steam version, while using the Degica one on PC. So no matter where you go, you'll be able to use RPG Maker at will :D So I think it's a pretty good deal X)

No, I can put the installments into the Steam Wallet, and have that money saved until I can pay for it. It's like putting the money in a jar somewhere.

Careful, Steam region locks for some areas I believe. You certainly can't get it gifted from Russia, for example.

Funny I did a bit of research like 5minutes before you posted this and read about region lock and key sharing etc, but you should recieve a cookie for being honest and helpful lol.
