Hello RMMVers! I'm here today to let you know something absolutely wonderful! If you were not here for the RMMV Moderator Elections #1, #2 is right here! We're currently looking for a new moderator to take the ranks of staff and we're following true to our past ways! We want the community to take part in choosing who our moderators are. However, we do not have anyone in mind currently, so we need anyone who meets the requirements and wishes to become apart of the Moderator staff team to apply using the template below. NOTE: if you do not use the template you will INSTANTLY be disqualified. You MUST also meet the requirements which are also listed below.

Exceptions can be made, however they will not be given to everyone.

As a moderator you must know all the rules inside and out, as well as be a nice, honest, helpful, and trustworthy member of the forums. You must have at least 150 posts with 100 likes. You are allowed to be in multiple groups, so RT members, you're allowed to apply!

Uh... Xyphien, maybe you should specify how the whole application process and everything works. Not everyone was here during the first round right. So, people apply via PM to you is that right? You should be precise with posts like that. XD

Yup! That's how it works! This post will either be updated, or a new one will be made explaining what happens after the applications are looked over. (cheeky) *happy dances*

Also, I'm not sure how many people are actually able to apply with the 200 posts requirement. The top 20 of most posted members ends at 238, so the possible list of candidates isn't that large (considering 4 already have moderator capabilities).

It actually was really fun, though. There were a few scenarios where I really had to think about the best way to react to a situation, lol. (cheeky)

@JibstaMan: I think having the post requirement so high at the moment makes sense because we want a staff member that's fairly recognizable already. I can understand that, though. There are a lot of good candidates that don't quite meet that yet.

I fixed the typo, as for the post limit, you're correct there aren't many at the 200 mark just yet but there is room to make it to the 200 post count rather easily, and I would like to see some of the people below 200 really try to get to the mark, because some of them would be great candidates.

It actually was really fun, though. There were a few scenarios where I really had to think about the best way to react to a situation, lol.
Hahah I know I really lucked out, but every question you guys got I answered myself, just not publicly hahaha some of those questions were epic and I learned from them so it was a good experience even if I did not have to take part (cheeky)

Good to know. I'm doing my best to get as close to 200 as possible. I've wanted to do this since my early days here!! I only wish I was more active in the beginning...

This is true, so I went ahead and lowered it down to 150. This way people who are newer, yet are still active have a chance to catch up :) Such as Iron Croc :D

I've updated the post to add more information, so it'll behoove you to look it over once more.

What can prevent a person from just spamming 150 posts in random threads just to qualify as being a moderator as soon as this thread shows up? Seems like it can be abused. Mod recruitment should involve a careful day by day inspection of respectful, active, and helpful members in my opinion.

Spamming is breaking the rules. That user can make 150 quality posts in a day, yes. However, he will not have the popularity of the members to make it far most likely. Someone who has been posting a lot for a while with 1,000 views could not be as popular and have the common vote as a member with 200 votes. Popularity, Structure, quality of posts, etc. are what get you into a moderator position. As well as I have the choice to deny anyone I see fit. If a user has very little quality posts and somehow meets all the requirements and I don't see the person fit,
as well as be a nice, honest, helpful, and trustworthy member
If the user isn't someone I know from experience, has little quality posts, etc. I can say that I cannot trust him/her at this current time with running as a moderator.

Another big thing is, if the user has 150 posts that are not of the highest quality, chances are they will not get rated much. Meaning they will most likely not meet the 100 likes qualification :) Hope this helps a little.

This sort of behavior is very easy to spot and our moderators ain't no dummies. -- or at least not most of the time ;)

@Xyphien: Will we be doing it like before? a Campaign thread and all? That was good fun!

Yup! Prepare for hypothetical scenarios, questions about leadership and responsibility, and brownie points for remembering my favorite kind of dinosaur! (devilish)


I think changing the post requirement to 150 is a happy medium for being active here. For perspective, I had just around 200 posts when I was elected for mod, so... Yes. You will become active whether you realize it or not xD

As confident as I am to enroll on this spot now that I know this time about the elections, I still will do as I said before when applying to the RT. I simply am not on enough of the time (plus my consistent Navy sea time,) to constantly make the associated changes and provide on a daily. So I'll do what I always do and do my normal member with no benefit or special duties to judge the next moderator contestants with the standard, but yet hard at defining, real life questions that will ensure the integrity of their capabilities.

Our administrator Xyphien is currently serving America by being over somewhere in the middle east, so it's not as if even our admins are above being here while working busy jobs.

Still, if that comes into ratings, then my surplus of time might be a winning point, perhaps.

But it's up to Xyphien on if the people will be allowed to vote for my modship, unless he amends the infractions rule. I won't interfere.

I do really like the electoral campaigning, had good fun last time. If I win, that's just some neato gravy. Ultimately, I will be denied that if the rule isn't amended, which is a real shame.

But I'll see what happens, Xyphien isn't stupid.

Unfortunately, at least some percentage of members will likely be voting solely on who they like the most, lol. But, *adjusts glasses* hopefully everyone will consider each candidate's answers, and make their final decision based on who would be the best choice for a staff member. Remember: you may not like someone so much once they have to remind you to follow the rules. *dodges a tomato* (cheeky)

To everyone who applied and was accepted: first of all, congratulations - I know a lot of you worked really hard to boost your activity in time for this! Second of all, good luck! My advice is to read through each question/scenario multiple times before you give your answer, and realize that sometimes there isn't one correct answer to a situation. (wink)
