Sinnistar submitted a new resource:

Sinnistar's Resource Calendar - January - January pack contains new male mouths, dragon wings, and a nature tileset with a system scheme.

Hey everyone! I've decided to start up a side project that will certainly benefit many of us. This is "Sinnistar's Resource Calendar". Much like the RT's monthly pack, I'll include several different resources; according to my personal preferences and what I feel is popular demand at the time.

So for the first Calendar pack, I've used a mostly nature theme. As such, this pack includes a full tileset of trees made by me (took so long to do thus why this is released on the 25th and not...

Hm, I believe I've seen a sailor outfit in the Scifi tileset DLC if I'm not mistaken. But as for a boat, depends what type? If you mean modern, it's prolly also in that dlc, but for a classic/age of exploration one, I think only Celliana has that so far. And hers I think is a parallax set. I've thought about making one of my own, but I have no idea where to start on that to be honest heh. If nowhere else, you could always try searching on RPGmakerweb and see if any of their resource makers have made a new one yet. Other than those, I'm not sure where you would be able to get that. I'll look into seeing what I can do with a ship though!

Okay, i'll check into that Scifi Tile set, my main issue is the character who isn't human.. lol. Idk how I could get one on him :P and I need a classic one. Can't find one anywhere on google. Ones I do find are for older versions, which does not work out at all.. already tried. Where can I find Celliana's work? and the Scifi Tileset? Thanks for the help! Have you had a chance to try that Demo? and have u got any games out? I'd like to see your work. Thanks for the Help !

the scifi set is a DLC you have to buy sadly heh. Celianna's is over of RPGMakerweb.com's forums. Everything she makes is over there which includes a pirate ship looking ship. I haven't got to the demo just yet, but I plan on it tomorrow, gonna test a bunch of em lol. I been busy with this pack, it took awhile to finish. I have a game called Mazi Raia that's finished but it's not published to Steam yet because I don't have a greenlight licence for it yet. But you can find the playable demo on here in the demo section.

Mmm... I'll just review this piece by piece, I suppose. (smile)

Generator face parts: The different expressions you made are nice, but there are some issues with matching the defaults. Several of the mouths don't have enough definition around the edges, and all of them are very pixellated. I'm not sure if you use a tablet or not, but it'd be best to try recreating some of these with a pen tool rather than pixel by pixel.

Generator wings: These have almost the opposite problem of the faces you made, which unfortunately makes them not match so well either. The wings look like they were drawn out rather than sprited, and the stray black pixels keep them from looking very clean. Nice choice of blue tones, though.

Windowskins: I like the colors you used in this. ^^ I think the only issue here is that one of the corners looks like it has a brush mark in the bottom right corner, messing up the symmetry a bit.

Weapons: (Not sure if they're meant to be weapons for sprites or icons, so I'm just going off of the pixel art) The designs of the weapons themselves are nice, though the shading is a bit wonky. The chain, pickaxe, and gun have a bit too much contrast around their handles (and too little around the edges of the pickaxe/chain), while the sword and axe have too little contrast overall. I think the sword is my favorite of them. :)

Tiles: I'm not 100% sure what tiles they go with, but the trees here look pretty nice. There are a couple of minor issues with the trees on the top row (it looks like a bit of the shadow was erased along the edges of the trunks, but otherwise they're nice and clean. The bushes and shrubs could use a bit of a touch-up, though. They look more like they were taken from shrunken-down pictures/drawings of bushes from the style of the outline/coloring. It's a bit odd, visually.

Overall: Your variety is good - it's the quality that needs work. I like that you tried a lot of things, though! (cheeky)

@RPGcrafter07: Please direct any further resource-related questions to either the Resource Request or MV Talk sections. Thanks!

Yeah, it would be cool to combine the resources from the past rm engines. I've actually got a tiny team working on my Lumminai project. xP Eventually it'll prolly be increased a bit to fully cover all aspects needed to make a pretty good rpg for Steam.
[doublepost=1453813703,1453812956][/doublepost]@Amysaurus Hm, for the mouths I do them pixel by pixel since my tablet is too touchy to make them with a pen tool. I also am not good at making them via pen tool heh. And they'd still have to be colored pixel by pixel so it'd still look pixelated in the end I would think. Most of the mouths are actually just copies of the female ones I made (due to popular request, like 15 people asked for that). But the newer 2 actually match the RTP ones much better since they blend, but they blend a bit too much.

For the wings, I've drawn those out on paper and then resprited them via the pixel by pixel method, but they were too big so resizing them kinda messed em up a bit there. I didn't notice that with the window skin either, thanks for pointing that out and I'll see what's causing that (noticed something doing that before but I removed it) something might remain idk I'll check though. The weapons were literally just a random idea heh, so I wasn't actually aiming for anything with those, just threw various styles together for anyone who wanted them to use and change as they pleased. They do fit in 48x48 boxes though with the exception of the gun taking 2 boxes.

The tileset was the main project in this and it shows heh. But they are meant to match a tileset I'm working on, I believe they will match anyway. But I'm sure somewhere someone has a higher contrasted/definition set they could go with. The bushes were again tossed in last because it looked so empty, so I drew some up and colored em in but that was again too large so had to resize them to fit (which messed em up, I'll work on this with the next bunch if I have to do that again lol). Either way, I wanted to offer a variety that would fit a few different styles without focusing on just one. I also didn't have a set theme to follow so it was a bit difficult to keep things steady heh, but nature seemed to fit since the green window and tileset. But thanks for the review!
[doublepost=1453816596][/doublepost]After looking back at the window in use via my tutorial project, I don't notice anything off about that. The line you mentioned on the bottom is also on the top, that's intentional but yeah it's on the top too so it matches. It does appear like the bottom stands out more though, but it's prolly because of the background heh. It's supposed to have the 4 corners and a line thingy going toward the middle like a vine or something. I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about with that or not, but if so yeah it's intentional and on the top as well.

Edit: Nevermind, I saw the area you mentioned and re-pixelled the part that somehow erased itself (prolly when I was messing with it to get it all right lol). All solid now!

well the only ones I like in this pack is the weapon icons, trees and windowskins. The mouths need alot more work, its like amy said very pixally, plus they look very wonky. Good job tho on the other stuff

The mouths prolly look more odd since they are ripped from my female set for 5 of the 8. But yeah I'll work on improving those. It's just difficult to actually make the male gen parts look any good xP I don't see enough male characters to capture the desired style. But what I could do for next time I do anything with their side of the gen, is copy the RTP ones coloring and such so it looks more RTP like rather than odd styled. But either way, variety adds something good for some and meh for others. Can't win with everyone as they say xP but I'll try for sure!

This may be a dump question but I have trouble with downloading the files, so I'd like to ask: Is it's possible to make a .zip-folder for these files?

Thank you very much!
You actually didn't have to install a new program for a new .zip-archive.
When you right-click on the desktop or on a free space in a folder using the explorer, you will find under the cascading menu "New" the option "Zip-Archive". There you go.

lol didn't work for me when I tried that. It claimed my "trial" had ended over a year ago xP. Meh, I could use the free program to zip stuff too so I can do it for both types I reckon. But glad it worked for ya! Turns out, zip files are allowed to be directly downloaded here, so that will also help me in the future with other resources.

I like what you did with the trees. There are some who may not edit trees, and would not have the flipping option available to them. I also like that you had a non-fruited option with the trees.

Yep! As promised, fruit trees lol. Are those too vibrant for your fairy theme stuff? Just wondering cause my recolors would prolly be the same. But yeah I intend to do a few like this for Bananna, orange, cherries, and some small bush fruit ones too. With flip options on each and also non fruited options on each for various purposes. The cherry trees will be the most difficult I believe since they originally have so many colors lol.
[doublepost=1454084215,1454084168][/doublepost]Also, the apple trees there, they can be used to make like an opening into an orchard and stuff. Thought that turned out pretty neat since both together make like an archway.
