What would you like to see from the Writing RT?

apologies for the long title lol.

anyways, since the Writing Resource Team was just "born" I wanted to ask all you lovely members just what you'd like us make for you to use in your games.

Would you like to see short character biographies? Story prompts? Simple character design ideas?

I'd really love to get your feedback, so we can make the resources exactly what you need! =) post all of your ideas for what you'd like us to make here; every suggestion helps!

Essentially, ideas. Nothing restrictive. Back stories, world settings, lore, inventions, etc.

I would really love to see some ideas for quests and plotlines from you guys. (cat)

I second @Amysaurus on Quest Ideas!

I myself would like to see Subplot Ideas, Story prompts and that ilk. As I'd love to see some fun, say, competitions for the forum. Using such n such story prompt, make a game in RMXX. Have an event last for like a month, for game build time. [To take into account the fact that we are people that have lives and our own primary projects. :3 ] This kind of thing could foster both activity in members, and seeing what each other is capable of in a small time frame with set goals. Overall, this could foster and build teams as people with complimentary abilities pair up. which could later on lead to team events. :D [/off topic idea]

As far as character Bios and that kind of thing, not as much of that, though Character Bios Components, that could say be databased into a kind of 'generator' for rough and dirty character ideas. World building concepts would be nice as well, such as nation types, their 'habitat' so to speak, and their primary trade. Think; "A nation in sand, known for beautiful oasis' and a booming export of Hand Made tapestries, the primary source of the precious stone, the Desert Rose." Nothing absolutely rigid, allows for flexibility in design and with some flavor that can guide design, as with that short description, the oasis would make for a great hotspot and flavorful bit of fluff, and the Desert Rose could be a Key Item needed to trade to an npc earlier in a story to advance a plot line or side quest.

Hmmmm...dialogue examples maybe. Sometimes, ideas and concepts get so convoluted that I get bored reading all the overabundance of text.

As stated by @Amysaurus Quests ideas, plotlines, as well as maybe some descriptions for stuff like items, spells, etc. Basic lore for stuff like side quests, areas, items, etc. Examples would be stuff you can find in a book. So, if you found a rare sword in this room, in a book shelf you can have a book that reads off lore behind the sword.

OK, awesome. thanks so much for all the ideas, guys!

oooh, @Xyphien, I love your suggestion for item ideas! that sounds like something I'd love to do (especially the whole lorebook bit!)

@Macro hmmm, dialogue examples... I will put some thought into this as well.

@Isaac The Red This is a very interesting idea. Do you know how I could make such a generator?

I shall let my compadres know about your suggestions. keep it up!

Maybe some quick (again, long drawn out 19 page text canyons put me to sleep) helpful tips to making a non-flat character and how to make them balanced.

Nice suggestion, thank you! I will keep this in mind. hope the rest of the team gets to read all the great ideas here soon!

keep em coming, everyone. I'm loving the discussion so far.

Working on some experimental resources now. I'll post em up sometime later, and you guys can let me know if it's the sort of thing you want to see =)

It would be awesome if we could also get some ideas for enemies, almost like a bestiary. :)

(Then the graphics team could totally hook you up with some battlers (right))

I would love to see what Xyphien suggested, some item, spell, armor & weapon descriptions. I always have a bit of trouble coming up with a unique way to describe my basics items and spells. I would also love to see some simple side stories, or back stories of NPCs. A game is always more fun when the NPCs have history and stories. To go with the NPC backstories, how about also adding in some unique dialogue for them as well, like a specific way they talk, for example, old English, or broken accents, etc, just a unique way to make the NPC different. The rest of what has been suggested is looking great so far, If I think of anything else I'll let you all know.

This sounds epic, and something I may be able to help with, let me do a bit of research to give my brain a re-cap on creating applications and I'll let you know.

Awesome, thank you LTN! will keep all of this in mind =)

ooooh sweet! it'd be amazing if we could get a generator working ^_^ keep us updated on that one~

oh yeah I forgot to post the experimental things I made --> http://www.rpgmakermv.co/threads/experimental-writing-resources.1809/

let me know if this is what you guys want, or if I should make different stuff, or any suggestions really. thank you (hella)
Always good to reference. Another idea would be to provide a template style for other things like character bios (Name, Age, Fight style, etc.) so some who really don't know what "should" be shown in a bio can have an idea for that to build their own on. Not sure if someone has done that before, but it's an idea that's pretty simple.

As for if that's some good ideas in your experimental writing, I think those are perfect. It's descriptive enough to give an idea on how descriptions and such should be worded. If I think of anything else that fits in the realm of writing, I'll be sure to let ya know xP

Around the world there are a multitude of different kinds of fae folk. Step back Tinkerbell, you are not the spokes model for the fairies. The majority of fae lore has some horrific types. Some steal children, and replace them with dopplegangers. Some will help you for a price, but if you do not accept their price, they attack you. I love the Brazilian fairies the most. Are they coming or going? I'll explain that later. The Philippines have Diwatas, wingless yet nearly human-sized.

Yeah there's a huge variety of fairies alone (I'm making a bunch of those happen for the generator xP so many parts though lol), then adding other lore type creatures, it's endless lol. I can see a basic layout of a bestiary working, and the person adding in their own ideas and maybe asking the writers if it sounds good and getting some feedback/tips on how to make it look and sound better.

As for battlers, yeah they'd prolly be easily made but it all depends on the amount of detail one would want (a lot of detail would take far too long, but simple detailing like the default battlers doesn't take too long). I actually have a second battler in the process of being made too, can't wait to see what it looks like when done. But at the moment, am working on enchanted forest recolors of the default tilesets to go with my fairy character gen sets. I think it's be cool to have like lore that would be written out so I could base pixel art off of that lore xP think that'd be fun.

You need monsters ey?

Well, I'm not gonna just fold you over the ideas I've had, buuuuut!

If you look at some of earth's creatures, we already have some... interesting beasts!

The Anteater
It looks like it should be in one of those alien movies.

The Cuttlefish
Contrary to the phonetic it's name carries, cuddles ain't it's game, nor is being slightly alike any living organism on earth. If anything could be seen as the inspiration for Oddworld's Sligs, it's these fucking things.

The Axolotl
A freak of nature, and a darned diddly cute one.

Finally.

The Mistake of God
"Listen ya wanker yobbo coont, the name is 'Platypus', thank you very much! Now where's me beer?"
Well sorry there, thing that looks like a result of a duck and a beaver having one too many late night inter-species grody get-togethers, I couldn't help but wonder why God would smash together an otter, a duck and a beaver, did he just run out of ideas and start bashing things together?

Hey, it is possible! The Platypus, ladies and gentlemen! --native to Australia, and like virtually everything else with lungs in this country, it's venomous.

They have two burrs on the back of their feet near the 'conceivable-ankle' that'll hurt a bit and paralyze you for a short amount of time, heh, they aren't super deadly. Besides, the chance of you encountering one of these endangered amalgamations is very low, even lower is you being enough of an idiot to catch one.

If you're caught by anyone who gives a shit about you trying to catch one of these weirdos, a bit of platypoison is gonna be the least of your worries, sweetheart.

The constant in Australia is no matter how venomous a creature, or how poisonous a tree...

People will always be the most readily available and ample dose of toxin, get all that, mate?

So there's a bit of wisdom from your loyal Biz about how to concept, it's simple, you don't have to every time! Even god runs out of creative fuel sometime! Or Platypus here wouldn't be.

Join us next time on Biz's spiels for the story of how Australians have Flowey growing in their backyard, the rock with a deadly secret, and the SPIDER THAT HUNTS HUMANS.[/spoiler]
