I'm surprised sparkles aren't very popular. I don't think it's going to slide. :(

I'm not really a fan. It's a nifty effect but I think it just gets in the way, and is a distraction over all that draws attention away from forum content.

looks like we're tied, now! does this poll have an end date or is it going to go on forever?

right now (if it stays 50-50) it seems like the best bet would be to just let people decide if they want sparkly names to be viewable or not with a profile option or something.

the ones who aren't in favor of sparkly names do make some good points, too. so now I'm sorta on the fence--still leaning yes, but I'm thinking it would be nice if it were something we could toggle ourselves (if we want to see peoples' sparkly names or not). would this be possible to do @Xyphien? I think some others suggested this as well.

I think a change should require like a 2/3 acceptance vote from the community.
That way half of the forum isn't upset that something is changed because of a 51-49 split.

yeah I definitely agree here. this is the best bet if there's no way to make it an optional thing for everyone.

It shows up for you?! SWEET! I've been working on it off and on here and there and it doesn't show up for me at all on the dark version. If that's the case, then I can go ahead and make a custom image (Hopefully)

As for the sparkling usernames, I'm going to go ahead and remove them, and then turn specific banners into sparkling banners.

I think that's a good alternative.

I'm for sparkles to differentiate between staff members, sponsors, etc. Also, to make it fairer across the board, sparkles for certain rewards. However, as @David FoxFire mentioned, having the option to turn them on or off is something that should be implemented if they're used. Banners ARE a good alternative though, as it becomes more optional for those who are "sparkle intolerant" or don't want them.
