For me, the most important part of a JRPG is the narrative. I've been watching Extra Credits on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB9B0CA00461BB187), and it got me thinking on how I could go from the tropes that interest me to actual stories to tell.

Judging from your start post I presume you haven't worked with RPG Maker before, is that correct? If so then there definitely is a lot to take in but since RPG Maker is kept fairly simple on the surface, I'd recommend a simple "learning by doing/trying" process. Our tutorial section here might also be a good starting point as well as the MV Talk section and the MV Support section. There's also a bunch of video tutorials on how to use MV on Youtube. I'm sure you'll find something if you look for it. :)

Community is kind of quiet usually, but friendly Friendly and quiet. Everyone is basically (mostly) newbs and still learning MV, so no worries. xD
