Rules Suggestions

I usually only quote someone if I'm trying to respond to multiple things at once. (In the campaign threads, for example, I wanted to make sure people could tell what exactly I was answering.) I try to just tag someone if it's a direct response. :)

I can understand it being a problem if there are a ton of quotes going on at once, but we have spoilers for that :O

I think this is the only rule that I would add were I in charge.

"Whatever you post, read it as a response to you, first."

Will save you a lot of embarrassment and self-cursing.

I really think double posting should be allowed in more than just updating your post - I think you should be allowed to bump your topic after at least 2-3 days so your topic doesn't just get ignored forever.

I think bumping is just fine for resource requests and help/support requests - it's bumping in other sections that concerns me.

If someone has a game topic, resource topic, writing topic, etc. that they don't think is getting enough attention, the expectation is still that they don't bump their topic without providing an actual update to the content.

The issue with that is that in the rules it states you can't double post for any reason other than updating your thread. I think that's fair in some cases, but in other cases it's not.

I can add that stipulation to the rules, if that's something you guys would like to see. Are you guys okay with a 72-hour (3 day) limit between bumps/updates?

It would certainly give the mods something to do around here. :) Something like that on a case-by-case basis might be nice.

What kind of topics do you think would be deserving of a bump? (if something other than resource or help requests)

since the forum is getting larger, it might be a good idea to expand on the rules a bit and make them a little more flexible. I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't abuse it.

@Amysaurus I got ninja'd. sounds like a great idea!

Could it also have a contingency that after two or three resurrection attempts (bumpings), if there are no new responses, the thread is allowed to finally rest in peace?

I'm going to go ahead and run these ideas by the rest of the staff to make sure everyone is in agreement. Thanks a lot for the suggestions, everyone!

@MinisterJay: I think that may be a little more dependent on the type of thread, but I'll bring that up as an option. :)
