Blimey... this is an old debate. This is almost as old as the internet itself.

My side of the silver coin is on pirates, there's just too many good piradical characters to place them over Ninjas.

Beyond POTC, there's also Disney's Treasure Planet... which inspired quite a few things in my universe. Most notably, the space monkey pirates.

This has been attempted.

But it appears the two are universally segregated by the laws of apropos inclination.

Ninja's are about elegance, pirates are about the opposite.

You cannot feasibly have both. You can have an elegant pirate be elegant, and you can have a clumsy limping ninja be clumsy and limping.

But you cannot have both an elegant and clumsy pirate or ninja in one.

The aesthetics entirely oppose each other.
