Hey guys, I'm making music that is available for everyone to use. I do want some feedback on the direction I am taking. Here are two tracks so far. First is the field theme and second is the battle theme for that area.

I am wondering what genre the music would be suitable for. Like futuristic? Space? Those are my first thoughts, what are yours?

Crazy Forest Zone definitely sounds sci fi'ish. I liked it.

Overall, reminded me of Starbound OST. A sci fi game.

Furious got more techy, only thing didn't like was the high pitch tink tink tink sound. It worked on Crazy good, but I didn't like it so much in Furious.

Over all, reminded me of Digital Devil saga OST. A techy game.

Nice composing though, good listens I enjoyed them.

Crazy Forest Zone: I don't know if "crazy" is how I'd describe what I'm picturing from this song - I'd go with something more like "Mysterious Forest" or "Forest Panic". I really love the direction you went with, though. It's a great mix of relaxed and suspenseful. The piece starts out very mellow, and gradually raises in intensity towards the end, making it something I could really picture being in a puzzle/platforming section of a game.

Furious Forest: Again, I don't know if "furious" is how I'd describe the song, but it works. I like how this gives a very similar vibe to the first piece, but ups the ante quite nicely. I could definitely imagine myself using this for a chase/escape scene.

Overall, you really capture a great almost-sci-fi sound here - it's dark, yet upbeat, and makes it really easy to picture the kind of environment I'd hear it in. Really nice work. (cheeky)

The only thing crazy about that song is the constant and graduate genre change throughout the song. It does sound very futuristic and would definitely fit a dungeon area or something similar. I can also picture this in other games other than RPGs too. Especially the middle part of it would fit a board or puzzle game. :)

And "Furious Forest"... hrm, not too sure what to think of it. I think you overdid it a little on this one in the second third of the song. There's too much going on at the same time and same velocity. A little more balancing and mixing there should do the trick.
Other than that it's a great remix of "Crazy Forest Zone" and, while I haven't played many of those games, I could picture this in a Sonic game or if not that in a futuristic action game - maybe a space shooter. :D

My naming conventions aren't quite imaginative, nor am I a professional musician, so it's nice to receive some feedback so that I can improve. Thank you all for the feedback! :)

Edit: I took your advice and made a more mellow and organized theme, not too many instruments, but plain and simple. :) New themes added to first post.

I'm REALLY divided with the XCX OST, I like some and dislike others. In particular the rap themes... "Uh uh uh uhuh yea, uh uh uh uh yea. yea yea yea..." *MUTED*

Oh man..my ears couldn't take it. On the other hand I love some of the overworld and battle themes.

I haven't heard the entire track yet though.

Black Tar part 1 is when you battle on foot. That is my favorite theme. :) The field themes are all great as well. I didn't like the NLA Night theme though, that's the one you are talking about. lol

Ah okay. Looking forward to more of your songs ^^ I rarely like any lyrics in my game music though.
I hear ya, I used to feel the same, but I suppose it depends more on the style of game. Xenoblade X had more of a futuristic urban vibe to it, so the soundtrack did suit the game quite well. This is also the style of game I am making, though I am creating the music for everyone to use. My boyfriend is going to be making the music for the full version using the sega genesis soundboard or SNES soundboard, or even perhaps a mixture. So when that is all said and done, I wont have any of these tracks in the game. :P

I was like that at first with the Persona music, hated it at first, then it grew on me. I can't imagine that NLA theme ever growing on me though, it's just too simple and repetitive. Sometimes I like repetitive songs though. It's really hard to say. Old school (pre-2000) games seemed to be really good at making pleasantly catchy repetitive music.

I can't disagree with you there! It' not always a bad thing to be repetitive with music, but repetitive lyrics on the other hand, they do not work quite as well. Black Tar is a track I can listen to over and over again without getting bored of it.

Most of them sound either Fantasy or futuristic Scifi themed in my oppinion. The ones like Snowy Forest sound Fantasy. But I think you've got a great start on them! I may look into using some of your once I do the music reroll of my project to replace all the placeholders. xD

I might be updating them to increase length and getting rid of the vocals. I will be saving vocals for more important battles perhaps. :) Anyway, if you would like to see the music incorporated into a game, why not try out my alpha version? :D
