[Workshop] [Writer] Offering my Services

Micro

Dragon Goddess
Man, I couldn't think of a better title lol.

Anyways, my skill is writing. I've been writing since I was really young and would like to think I'm good at it... :D Enough about that, though!

If anyone would like some writing assistance, here's what I can provide/help with: story & characters concepts (I can help flesh out what you already have or just shoot random ideas at you), character biographies (if you feel the need to have one), backstory & lore (again, mainly just fleshing out your ideas), proofreading ... and other stuff you might need, I guess? I don't know. xD

If there's something else, please just ask!

Some examples of my work...

Character Bio: http://sta.sh/0g1z14ueezx - I wrote this maybe a year ago?

General writing example (excerpt from a recent FF14 story):

I found myself standing--nay, floating--in a dark void, my feet levitating hardly an ilm away from what resembled a winding path of mesh-like blue and purple lines. "Estinien?" My voice resounded, albeit distorted, through the quiet space.

It seemed small at first, but when I narrowed my eyes I could see an infinite network of the colored mesh extending in all directions. I was terrified and lost, unable to hear even the voice of the stars. "Where...where are..." It was exhausting to speak, as though I was violently choked after every syllable.

Simply breathing was an enormous task, but I hardly felt revitalized when whatever 'air' that existed here filled my lungs. It made me feel nauseous and faint, but I steeled myself and made an attempt to propel myself forward through the void in search of Estinien.

All the time I spent alone and miserable could not have prepared me for this; the mere thought of being suspended here in this nebulous, deserted place by myself for more than mere seconds horrified me. "Es..." My thoughts and consciousness themselves began to slip away in the winding realm, and I wondered if this was what Death was like.

As the fatigue nearly brought my eyes to fall shut, I saw a faint white light in the distance. Beside the light was a dark speck; as I drifted closer to the light, I realized that it was in fact Estinien I saw nearby. "Est..." I heaved.

I could barely make out his form reacting to my presence, but then, the light suddenly expanded massively in an instant. The sound it made was deafening--louder than even the ferocious bellow of Nidhogg, which echoed throughout the entire continent.

My head spun as the light enveloped us both without warning and wrenched us forth before harshly expelling us a moment later into another realm.

--
After I had recovered from being launched out of the terrible void, I took a breath of much-needed fresh air; it was a wonderful, salty and wet air that made me thank the Twelve for their mercy. Another moment in that place and I'd likely have expired, along with all of my aspirations.

Estinien! I remembered my companion once I'd regained my senses and rapidly twisted my neck in search of him. Much to my relief, he too had been ejected from the void and landed nary a fulm away from me. "Estinien," I spoke his name weakly, still exhausted from the tribulations of the portal. He did not respond.

Concerned, I approached him as I retrieved the star globe from my back and reached out for the stars. They answered, thank the Twelve, but they were somehow...different. Ignoring that fact for now, I bound the power of the Sun to myself and entered the Diurnal Sect and cast my most powerful Benefic spell on Estinien.

He exhaled heavily a moment later and sat up. "...." He was speechless as he held his head, taking some time to recover from the jarring experience. "Ugh. 'Twas far worse than traveling by aether current..."

I offered the dragoon a hand, but he stood without my help and brushed himself off. "'Tis well you possess such potent magicks." Estinien nodded, then without warning, he pulled the lance from his back and stepped in front of me, facing something in the distance. "On your guard. We are not alone."

If you'd like to see more examples, I'd be happy to share. ^_^

Anyways, as for what I might like in return... well, I don't mind helping for free of course (I do work though so it might take me some time, so please don't request too much haha), but...

I can't draw at all. I'm awful. Like...BAD. So if you wouldn't mind drawing some of my characters, that would be an awesome trade!

Thanks guys! <3

@Micro Would you be possibly interested in writing within a game that is an anthology?

Hmmm can you supply a little more info?
An anthology is a collection of works combined in one volume, sometimes united by theme or category. An anthology can also be a project where there are multiple writers writing from different perspective, but of the same event(s). I have had in the past round up writer that each created their own realms that were inserted into one united game. Throwing some ideas out there. :)

I know what an anthology is (cute) I just wanted to know if you were looking for some kind of specific entry into it. So are you saying you would like me to write about my world and put it into one big game?

I kinda figured you knew. Within the minds of different writers, we have multiple universes within our heads. :)

Hey @MinisterJay, I think you forgot to respond to the second question! :3
@Macro, you mean the tactic of answering the unasked question instead of the one that was asked?

@Micro , yes I would love to read about your world; maybe a bunch of us writers can get together and combines worlds to make a universe. :)

aka avoiding the question? hehe (joking)

I'll have to give it some thought. The lore for my universe is all over the place and spread out through years of work; it's something that's being slowly developed in a bunch of different stories. I'd have to figure out exactly what I'd want to put into this new universe, since I have a ton of worlds lol.

Is there any kind of framework for this "multiverse" yet? Some kind of basis for it all I can look at that might help me decide what I might want to put in?

@MinisterJay You know, I would help with that idea there too lol. It could become some grand interesting game with several stories into one. If that ever becomes a thing, count me in xP

@Micro I wouldn't mind getting your assistance with the project I'm working on too. I have two storylines that follow a similar line, but I can't really think of originality for both of them at once. Having someone else help create a lore they will follow would help a lot with that too. If interested, send me a pm and I can provide some better details.
