Status Ailments?

I wanted to add status ailments to my game, but I was wondering some things. Do they stack during battle? If so, how do I keep them form stacking?

I think there was a video on Youtube from Yanfly's tips and tricks Stack Poison state that adds minus amount of HP regen every time the state applied to the same target or the target that already has that alignment .... and that is a pretty good advantage to most battles
