Can MV be used to create a game that can be restarted from the beginning, but keeping your characters name, level, skills, gold, and inventory?

For every death you can just restore the characters health then transfer the player back to beginning of desired location. This can be achieved many ways, you can use the event command "battle processing". And click the check box "can lose" then setup your event commands for the can lose section. The next way is to use a Plugin, homework has a Plugin named Gameover Events which you can use to setup a common event for each gameover, this event can reset health then transfer you back to desiredlocation.

What I would do is to make a 'ghost' saved file, that you don't want the user to access. It accesses the current things the actor has, such as stats, gold, etc. It gets loaded every time you start the game, and when you actually die it gets saved automatically without the player informed.

You guys are missing what I'm asking. A game you can choose to start over from the beginning, while retaining your stuff. this has nothing to do with deaths or gameovers.

It has to do with Game Overs, actually. Do you know why? Because Gameovers are not just coincided with Deaths. When you want to choose to start over and overhaul your contents, then the events would just do fine. But if you want to do this AFTER the entire gameplay and choose to repeat the game and with all your contents given, this is what they call a new game plus. A new game plus however, requires a plugin, which I have made.

My plugin allows you to stay all your stats upon new game. You can just set up the same location and turn on a switch so you know it is a New Game with all your stats retained.

oh ok. well I was thinking both. the player could start over at any time before and after game completion.
