Perseverance Full Clearance: Going to MV

Bizarre Monkey

I SHALL BE GLORIOUS!
Some of you may have heard of me or my games, but even if you haven't, let's just say, I'm stoked about the upgrade to Optimization in MV, and for it and other reasons, I will be finishing Perseverance in it.

For those of you who don't know, Perseverance started as an entry for the IGMC of 2014, sadly, it missed the deadline due to a misunderstanding of the UTC. Regardless, of that, I released the game four days later. It was and still is, a cripplingly-ambitious project, it's nothing like an RPG, it's gameplay is... closer to a character action game than anything.
It sure has evolved rapidly from where it started. Predictions slate it for a December release, but it could easily be later. I'm done with 4 out of the 6 planned acts, and I'm vigilantly working on Act 5 as we speak. Once MV Maker comes out, I can really get cracking. My team has already started preparing for the new makers arrival, Member I, Catalyst invisible has been having both fun and frustration (both due to complex design) with making the character sprites, on the left is walking, the right is sprinting.

Once the 23rd comes, I'll be working on converting all of the maps to tilesets, unlike the more mspainty (but still really cool looking) images like Stages 1 and 2.
I'm not doing much of the art, in fact by release none of my MSpaint crap should remain. It should all be consistent and not only look amazing, but play amazing as well.

The above is an estimate mockup and should not in any means be used as a gauge for gameplay or the final product, that's just how I think it'll look, albeit, it's HUD will be flashier and other things will be much more nice looking.

Wow, that looks really nice Bizarre, I can tell a lot of work has went into this with all the customizations, only a few things looks like it's actually an RPG Maker game. Keep it up, and hope to see some more games coming out for MV!

The idea is for it to look like it could be made in anything, Same sort of gig with Menagerie: Remastered (Blue angular side-on head icon in my sig), people always act shocked these things are made with VX Ace or whatever. It's not that I go too a whole lot of effort in the sole interest of hiding it, I just have lots of ideas and people don't seem to realize just what these programs are capable of.

When people think of RPGmaker they naturally default to the RTP and how a stereotypical game looks when made in said engine.

Also I like to make as much as custom as possible. The music in this game is all built to my specifications by one very talented guy, and he's eager to remaster the OST and add more to it for the Full Clearance edition.
There's an example.

This looks really cool. It has its own unique style to it, and I like it.
It seems like it would be fun to play too.

The amount of work put in there. Daaaaaaaaamn 0_0
That's one of the most reactive action RPG genre ever seen. The presentation was very well done, and the trailer was outstanding.
Your creativity level was over 9000 for sure.

Haha, thanks again!

But uh, there's no RPG elements left, really!

I will be adding weapons that level up though! That should be exciting.

Here's a bit of a preview of that.

It's a little out of date, mind. But that's the gist of it.

So the character doesn't level up. It's completly an action adventure then? :O
Yeah. None of the base stats are used, which meant the menu was useless and ugly, so I changed X to be the use power up button instead.

With RPGmaker MV, it seems plain out removing options from the menu will be very easy. And with additional input (which I'm hoping we'll get) I can bring the menu back.

Even if the only options are 'weapons', 'items' and 'quit'. I could provide info on said weapons and powerups.

Maybe I'll make a Journal option that records data, one section for weapons, one for powerups, another for characters.

A character's name, with a large image, a couple lines showing statistics (Age, Height, Origin, Species, Likes/Dislikes, etc.), then a description.

If such a plugin doesn't exist already, I'll have one made.

I imagine toggling a switch per item would be how they are unlocked.

That way I could either have it when you encounter said item or entity you get the entry, or you find Pamphlets that unlock them, think alike KISS Psycho Circus.

In fact, I could make it so weapons upgrade through treasure hunting, too! That would save me eventing an Experience variable and all, just simply find a requisite item to upgrade your weapons.

Think like Gold Bolts in Ratchet and Clank One, except not quite so sacred.

Now I get it! The character never increases in level, nor does his/her stats. But you can collect parts as a special currency exclusively specific for weaponry upgrades. It's like pure action games with only the weapons upgrading. Thanks for the explaination ^^

Weapon's enhancement via upgrading looks more realistic than weapon's leveling up in my honnest opinion, but that's only my opinion. ^^
And I understand why the character doesn't increase in stats, considering he/she is regenerating passively. ^^

Well, yeah! The Upgrade system sounds more fun to implement, anyway.

That's only in Red Tempest mode, typically they don't. But you can restore your Health via gumballs and touching save obelisks.

In full clearance I'm also going to introduce a power up that restores a bunch of health, think like the Quartz Flask in Heretic.

The healing part, I've noticed it by watching the second video afterwards, but got too lazy to update my post without knowing why they were different. But now I know why, thanks for your explaination ^^

Nice! The HUD could use a bit of work imo but the rest of the game looks fun!
I agree, it's very in progress at the moment.

Thanks again all for the positive responses. If I don't respond, it's not because I'm not listening, it's more likely because i also want to have new stuff to show before I make a new post.

Well that time has come! Our Spriter finished Nola's Running and Walking Animations.

Starts idle, then walks, then runs! Rinse-repeat.

But surely that isn't all?

Correct, behold the Arbiter of Anarchy Himself

Pep's got a redesign, been in the works a while, retaining his same sort of insane caddish bravado, pumped to burst with the accessories befitting a revolutionist so savvy.

But ohoho! You thought we were done didn't you?

Nyeh-heh-heh! Yet again completely bumbusted by the Biz!

Our Composer has done a main theme for Esperia.
