Morning to the MV community. I am new to the site after hearing about such a program that was dedicated to retro style games and more. I have not purchased one yet but may do so in the future. Clearly, I am not sure what this Steam client is supposed to be use for or how to operate it so feel free to lecture me on using one. I have try learning from different platform but it is better to communicate with those who actually working on RPG Maker MV. Enlighten me with some of your knowledge but not your opinions. Thanks.

I am a comic book artist and will like to make new friends on this site as well. It is a great honor to meet others who have similar interest and hope that we can achieve some form of goal.

Lemme be the first to welcome you to the forums! Using steam is actually quite simple, when you purchase games or programs/apps on the steam store it shows up in your steam library. Pretty easy to get the hang of (one of the reasons why so many use it). It also pays to have one when you get something like MV since there's also a steam community for it (among pretty much all games and such as well). If you need help with anything involving steam, I may be able to help ya. I've been using it for 4 years or so now.

I too am an artist, mostly of the manga/anime variety myself. Really though, it's not much different from comic style, so I can relate xD If you decide to share your work, I look forward to seeing it!

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it. Here are two of my older artwork. There were a couple of mistakes and needs to be recolor and redrawn. Enjoy it though.

Hi @jagvang . Thanks for using your artwork to introduce yourself. That was awesome. Welcome to our friendly forums. I was an editor for Comic Collectors Guild, and I loved introducing independent artists. Yours would have fit in perfectly or be on the front cover.

Hey Jagvang! Wow, your art is incredible. It's great to have you here. I really enjoy games on RPG Maker because it helps me expand my creativity (as a writer) into some art and also be challenged by other elements of the process.

Thanks for the comments. Sadly, as an independent rouge artist, I rarely make any money in today's society. With all this copyright issues going around, it is hard to be "original." You can be accuse of anything from stealing a character idea or design when you hardly know about it. That is why I always let many people know who I am inspired by.

Clearly, I'm inspired by old school Darkstalker, Captain Harlock, Digimon, Rune Soldier, and many other shows and comic that isn't popular in today's era.

@jagvang It is sadly true with making games commercial. I make sure I get permission from every resource used, even if there are 'free' or shareware. When a title is being thought of, I research all variations of rearranging the words. it is amazing how many original ideas have already be claimed by others, especially if yours becomes successful.

Hello and welcome to RMMV! Hope you have fun and find what you are looking for here. ^_^

The thing that is nice about RPG Maker is it can be retro but at the same time is suitable for modern ideas and platforms. :)

Digimon? lol oh that brings back memories. I used to draw those guys all the time. Your art is freaking amazing!! You would have no problem at all making money if you decided to open a shop to assist game makers with character design and such. If I ever had money heh, I'd certainly hire ya. Sadly I don't =( lol. But yeah, you have some really awesome skills there.

I can agree on the original thing though. It sucks that bigger companies literally "own" rights to most general ideas which is annoying. I actually have been hit with copyright before for something I knew nothing about because my character was "similar" to it, even though I made it up on the spot. That was not a fun comic lol. But yeah, I am like you in the "inspired by" aspect. I gotta give em credits even if I didn't make or use anything similar to them since they're where my inspiration comes from. Always good to do eh? xP

I thank each and everyone of you for this warm welcoming party. Therefore, I will reward you with an artwork that I have not finished long ago. Don't know why but it is better than nothing. The story is about 20% base on an old folklore in Asia before the country was ever called China. Same goes for the tales of the Peacock Princess. Background design are based on "The Flower of Life" in the form of Celtic knots. Which it also gives off an aura from the old country of Lhasa (Tibet). Enjoy.

That's some pretty good comic style art there. Glad to have the chance to see it xP. Do you do it all digitally from the start, or are you like I am and draw it with pencil then trace it digitally? I suck at digital lol but I will get it down eventually.

I draw both ways. Coloring, however, is something that I am still working on especially.
Ah yeah, both ways are good to know for sure. I can prolly do digital just fine is I had the right stylus for my drawing tablet, sadly I don't lol so it's no good for me yet. I can understand the coloring part (I just finished pixel arting a character after 3 long days working on coloring it lol). It'd be a bit easier if not doing it pixel by pixel of course, but still requires the proper toolset. From what I see in your colored image, you're actually pretty good at it already. Get any better than that and it's like, higher professional lol.

Welcome to the Community! Great Art! I too am a bit on the newer side with using these engines, I do recommend Steam for several reasons:
1. Great way to get games CHEAP!
2. HUGE Community!
3. For developers, there are ways such as Steam Greenlight, that can be linked with your Kickstarter, or Indiegogo pages to help promote your project. I am glad you are an artist.

Even if you NEVER delve into game design, you are an essential part of this craft.

I may be looking for a replacement artist for art, such as the art used for my Avatar here, as he is one of the Characters from our games, and i am sure if you hit the Job/Skill area of the forums there are people looking for people such as yourself!

Very true, one doesn't even technically need the game engine to help the communities of it. Who knows, might even have someone who'd pay for your work with the engine gifted to you. I've seen more odd things happen in worse places so it is possible (not too likely but still possible). With your style of art, I don't see you having an issue with getting places in a community like here heh. Many look for that style for many reasons.
