Hi there

Well, hello there! I didn't know there was a specific site like this for RPGMaker MV.
I've been messing around with RPGMakers (2k3, VX and Ace) for some time in the past, but I never got nothing out of it, but since I saw the pictures and videos from MV I decided to give it another try. And so I am here.

What can I say about me...well, I'm a nostalgic RPG player who keeps talking about how great the oldschool games were that likes reading and writing.
I'm pretty good at storywriting and programming (with events) but I'm a mess when it comes to mapping and scripting.

Hi @Silver Element , and welcome to the forum. How oldschool are you? I started playing D&D in 1984. I loved making campaign for Dungeons and Dragons, with good ole paper and paper. Looking forward to seeing you in the community.

Well I'm not really old (25) but I really miss the good old games from my childhood (Diablo, Dungeon Siege, The Legend of Zelda, the old FFs, Star Ocean 1 and 2, Xenosaga)...
I discovered D&D about five years ago and since then I play with a group of friends once every two weeks. We have a really good Master who keeps things running well.
Last year I discovered Shadowrun first as videogame with Shadowrun Returns/Dragonfall/Hong Kong, and then I moved to the tabletop RPG.

Well, I was about to reply to the OP and ask if you played CGA, EGA, or VGA titles to start but then you went and made me feel old by stating Xenosaga as 'old school.' I bought that when it came out in 2002... I was 23. I had hoped it was more in-line with it's namesake, Xenogears, but it wasn't. If you can find it, I highly recommend Xenogears. The Star Ocean series also good, but I really wish they'd stop jumping around timelines - but am looking forward to the next installment that is allegedly tieing them all together. Dungeon Siege? Been a while since I heard anyone bring that title up. Microsoft with games is like Fox with TV - they have this good idea and excellent execution the first time and they either can it because it was well received or mess with it until it's broken and hold on to it for a century.

Welcome.

Well for me they are old school, but there are a bunch of old games that I only heard about and never played. Xenogears is one of this (and probably I will never have the chance to play it due to the fact that's NTSC only).
Though I meant "old shool" referring to the way the games were designed and not to their age. There are some "old school games" even now, take a look at Bravely Default and Bravely Second, or to Ori and the Blind Forest (as platform game).

Btw thank you for the welcome!

Hm, that's an astute observation. Many games have reverted back to old control mechanics for challenge in lieu of classic theory - and I'm not sure how I personally feel about it as I've become accustomed to a more fluid control over the...decades... But I do appreciate the approach studios have been forced to take, largely as a result of indie devs.

Dark Souls is another favorite of mine too... I love the return to punishing the player for mistakes, saving only in certain areas, and limiting carry capacity to something realistic.

Anyway, yeah I assumed you were talking about NTSC titles. However, I think PlayStation store rereleased it among classic titles on ps3 in the EU as well. I'd have to double check
