Contrast For Our Community

I was browsing another community today and I noticed some strange behaviour and not from members but from moderators. A new member posted (details not important), but every word they typed with the first letter capitalised. I could have cared less about the words, but after the moderator replied back about the copyright and at the end of the post it said.
"Please, DON'T capitalise every word, it makes your post annoying to read."
Now only the beginning of every word was capitalised and I can understand some people views about it but is this really a good way to talk to a brand new member asking serious questions? I don't think so, this is exactly why I see our community to be so much friendlier, not because of how other communities are but because we don't tell others to be a certain way just because we don't like it. In the end the best way to have dealt with that is to have asked if it was intentional and that you find it hard to read, this don't cause a "I'm better than you" tone towards a member and it lets the person receiving that input, to actually think about why they do it.
Annyywayyss, rant over lol. This post was pretty much to show you that you all kick ass. :D

On a brighter note, this is a really cheerful theme song :D

I totally agree with you man! I hate how in most communities online have corrupt mods who think they can mistreat their members that way! they also abuse power and harass members into fearing them, making them afraid to speak their mind. sick of that crap D:<

I love this forum cuz the mods are nice, and dont try to act superior. even if someone posts a thread in the wrong place or goes off-topic, it's more of a friendly reminder than a : "DO IT AGAIN AND I'LL BAN YOU!!" thing. everyone makes mistakes or has quirks, no reason to be so mean!!

TLDR; I love our mods :)

Let's just hope it stays this way. This community is inevitably going to get bigger and things will change. If for the better or for the worse is up to us. Personally, I think generally being courteous towards everyone you meet, be it online or IRL, is generally the way to go. If they turn out to be total dicks just ignore them. Keep a cool head and stay friendly. Then things will be juuuuust dandy. :D

Goodness gracious, people are weird, aren't they? Well, let's just keep on hoping that the community will stay like this, but as @Kaimen has stated, this community will get bigger and things will change.

Once a community is old enough, and has enough members, it's only natural for staff to get a bit tired of seeing the same kinds of shenanigans over and over again. That's why I can understand moderators acting a bit uppity at times. The problem is, that's exactly how mods get a bad reputation in the first place!

An important part of being active in a community, whether you're staff or not, is being able to stay positive even if something bothers you. So yeah, if Everyone Is Complaining About Someone Typing Like This, then of course I'll see if there's a reason they do it. But I'm not going to bite their head off over it. And that's the thing, everybody deserves that same respect, even if we've seen it 50 times over.

Everyone is quirky in their own way, and as a community we've got to make sure we're willing to accept everybody's weirdness~ :)

This Does Annoy Me! And Raises My Wulfy Hackles!

However, being the tolerant person I am, I still read it or put it through a "text converter" to make it easier to read. Their native language may not be English, so they're not quite aware of proper format. German, in particular, capitalizes a lot of nouns I believe, so it's translated that way into English. Another consideration (something that I touched upon when I was doing psychology) is that it's attention-seeking, where people want to be noticed, capitalizing words to stand out.

That's what I like about this forum. The people here are more tolerant, less ignorant. If you mess up you're less likely to be slapped into the next life with threats of being banned or being greeted with condescension. Long may this community continue this way to stand out from many others! :)

We even capitalize every noun. It's a good way of telling which words are nouns when you're learning German. When I started learning English it was hard getting rid of that grammatical habit. :D

Lol I didn't have these problems when I learned english :D but they capatilize the "I" what's somehow strange, I think XD I like writing in German it's really fun but it's probably really hard to learn if it's not your native language. And it shouldn't be a problem if you do things like that (especially as a new member) , this mod should just chill a bit. I hope our forum stays like it is right now but I also want to see what will happen in the future~

As long as people stick to the rules, mods really should chill, yeah. It's one thing if a post is "annoying to read". But I know of no community where that's against the rules. Sure, you can tell the OP that they maybe should fix it but not be a total ass about it. Obnoxious writing is not outright spamming. :D

I don't mind certain kinds of text as long as they aren't confusing for people. The only thing I really have an issue with is people typing in mod colors for no reason (like this) because they're really only meant to be used for pointing out rules/making announcements.

I don't see crazy typing styles becoming a big deal here, but if they do we'll likely end up with rules against the major eyesores. THIS GETS KIND OF ANNOYING, This Gets Kind Of Annoying, tHiS gEtS kInD oF aNnOyIng, but if someone really insists upon typing that way, that's their prerogative. xD

If users want their posts to be read they'll inevitably have to write in an un-annoying way though. Things are gonna be kept in a neat balance, I feel. And there will always be people who deviate from the standards. :D
Also, adding in some colored text to annoy Amy.

THAT'S MY COLOR, YOU FIEND!! I claimed it. Just ask LTN. ; ~ ;

It's actually just the red and blue that bother me, lol. Typical staff colors. There's usually a "No disruptive posts" type of rule on forums those kinds of things fall under. ;D

I agree, I like the calmness here. If mods get nasty and personal, they should stop being a mod, because a mod should always be impersonal and only act to enforce rules, keep flame wars down, help out the community, etc. That's how I see it, anyway.

If the community is about pouncing on newbies and being overall bullies that love to flex their superficial powerz, that's not the forum for me. I have no problem with obeying rules and being a respectful human being though. :)

I understand people can have a bad day or two, but nit picking about the way a post is typed is just plain elitist in my opinion. "Uppity" mods are toxic and detrimental and many times form cliques with their "followers", and we don't need that, in my opinion.

I just read that on said forum, and i have no idea why its hard to read. I tend to write like that sometimes and I don't even realise i am doing it. I am getting better at not doing it. But still if someone said that to me in my posts I would ripping his insides out and using alot of bad words, No one can tell me how to write, if i want to write like that its my choice. Plus the guy who wrote that is an idiot
