If we made a community project, what would you all like it to be? Post your ideas below.

We started a topic for a community project a long long time ago when the community first started. I was going to continue on with it but I got so busy with my own projects & plugins. I would love to start it back up and join the team with everyone, I am more than willing to help with the plugin/scripting side of it.
Here is the original post from way back https://rpgmakermv.co/threads/forum-collab-rpg-maker-mv-game.285/
Maybe it will help other spark some ideas or change the idea entirely.

I'm not sure if we can continue the old project or not since most of the founders left. But hey, let's see what we can do with what we already have XD I mean the thread is still pinned, right? We just need a real concept and system on how to implement the forum members and so they know where they will be ;) Gah I'd love to see that community project being back

I like making NPC dialogue and thinking of ways to add immersion. You know, those little things that make the game feel more "alive".

That old thread seems like mostly a bunch of nonsensical banter and it didn't really help me. If people treat the project like a joke, in my opinion it's probably going to be just that- a big joke. Don't get me wrong I love comedy and humor, but I don't like it to be completely ridiculous ALL the time.

@Macro that's why we need a system XD Maybe someone could start with making maps and putting numbers on it so people could "reserve" a map or part of the map and/or state where their character would/should/could be. We could make it with numbers and stuff. I like the main plot of the old project though with Xiffy getting kidnapped X'D

Kidnapped by mercenaries hired by some baddies who want to overthrow Xiffy's peaceful utopia?
[doublepost=1462130368,1462128284][/doublepost]hopefully this will get merged...

anyway, I can throw together some random maps. I also love making character dialogue and would probably put "myself" in the game as some kind of dragon shapeshifter with ice magic. Hmmmm I could be like this dragon girl who visits Xiffy's utopia sometimes and likes to spend my free time/vacations there

Macro's character could give a quest to find me or vice versa. we totally would have dual attacks or get some kind of buff if we're in the party together :D

We can be like the ice climbers and have 2 sprites in one! Oh wait nevermind, that wouldn't work. I can't think of a good way to do this unless people worked on it a little bit at a time instead of one person doing everything.

Lots of pros and cons for community projects, but they're fun if they work out!

My suggestion would be to keep it simple, so people just getting started with MV might be able to join in. Newer users might be too intimidated to join if the ideas get too huge from the get-go. *flies away*

Something simple like a Town or City or something like this where everyone can have a house or stand (own interior, simple quest or what else). So everyone can spent/upload a map to community project an it will be grown up.

I think its almost impossible.
People could upload maps, but what about switches, items and so. It will be mess in a while for sure (perplexed)

When anyone registers before, he/she been acculated a block of switches, variables, map number etc. to use by admin and then download latest project file to edit. Then send it back when finished. Admin integrate it in project and reupload newest file to community when ready (or when some people had uploaded content/ on specific intervall) to show progress... but it's only an suggestion. (wink)

(By the way, this isn't the last time, I apologize for my bad english.)

Yea we'd have to have someone from the staff assigned purely to adding in people's updates. Who knows, some angry person could also try to get cute and sabotage the game too.

Hopefully there is/will be some kind of patcher because uploading 200 MB+ per update would get old fast too.

There are ways of organizing a project for the community, it will definitely take some time to setup and maintain, as Macro said we would need an assigned staff member to deal with all of the incoming updates. I will be excited to see what the community can come up with for ideas though, right now my brain is shut off from ideas so I won't be much of a help but I'll be lurking this topic to see how it turns out.

It doesn't have to be a staff to make all of these things right?
I mean I could create a template (how many switchs the person needs reserved) and a few maps of a town with marked areas where people could reserve an area for themself :D

Still a staff for organizing all of it would be awesome, still everything depends on what kind of game we wanna make x3

A staff to handle the uploads and check the game content is required, because it's to make sure that everything in it doesn't contain anything that is against the forum's ToS. If the game wasn't actually represented by the forum's administration itself, it wouldn't matter though. It this case, since he's calling it an "RMMV Community Project", it's the forum's responsibility those terms are upheld in said project.

I second this idea.

We could always do a simple storyline for a good basis. Xiff is captured, you need to rescue using MV-Tan as the main character and we could make the VM-Tan as well. For the rest of us, we could be in certain parts of different towns. Say you made 3 different types of towns for example: forest, desert and arctic. I'm sure we all could pitch in and design our very own room maps and give it to whoever for them to put in game.

If you wish to go further, i'd go as far as creating a map with your own character in it and you can create a small quest within the map itself. That way everyone has their own unique room, character and quest in the game.

VM-Tan could be the person that captured Xiff.

Also, taking it step by step sounds the best. You could always design one main town, and have users say which shop they'd like to make, and once that is either done, or all the slots have been taken up, do another town, or something. Same concept, just smaller platform. Instead of a whole user designing a whole area, either have them do one building at a time, or one town at a time. Then make your way across the area. Once you get the mapping done, then work on the storyline/plot.
