With MV fast approaching, there may be new users wondering whether they should get Ace or MV. After all, with all these Steam sales for Ace where you could probably get it for $10 or less, it might be tempting to grab a copy of Ace.

There may be existing users wondering whether they should stick with Ace, or move to MV.

Given the information so far:

What are some things that you didn't like about Ace, that you feel may have been resolved in MV?
What are some things that others might want to think about before jumping into MV?

Things I didn't like with Ace is the resolution given. Even with scripts, I feel it didn't really change it much. MV would have solved this problem because of the increase in resolution. I also didn't like it how with Ace, you needed scripts for side view battle and that was a pain in the butt to get set up. So that is resolved in MV too as you can make it side view or not with a tick of a box

People might want to think about the scripts before jumping into MV because there won't be many plugins on release (only if you preordered) and if you get the Ace to MV converter, the scripts won't translate so, meh.

What are some things that you didn't like about Ace, that you feel may have been resolved in MV? :
  1. The Engine having the same issues with its predecessors for being CPU intensive, thuse limiting its potential because of the lag. Now with OpenGL, MV will benefit less lag with the help of our powerful GPUs. ^^
  2. A pseudo 3 Layers to add more dept in mapping, which was lackluster in VX Ace and its predecessors... with the exception of XP of course ^^" (sometimes, some people don't want to use the Parallax as a way to map, or putting events in which, can increase lag potency).
  3. Despite the way to install the plug-in for the scripts looks intimidating, it's much easier to go to the place where you want to customize your values. (Unlike Ace and its predecessors which you had to scroll up and down etc.)
  4. The fact you can change your resolution to 16:9 (while in VX Ace and its predecessors were strict to 4:3 Boooo....)

What are some things that others might want to think about before jumping into MV? :
  1. The price, especially if the user knows how to optimize his/her projects and doesn't want to move to yet.
  2. No need to hurry for upgrade the engine yet (the user can still wait for a price drop or finish his/her project first unless he/she wants to import it over to MV).
  3. Popular scripts may be not available yet in MV.
