where are you finding these games? It's been ages since I've seen an RPG Maker horror game; generally they're all pretty bad

Literally the ENTIRE tumblr RPG Maker community is rpg horror. It really started after Pocket Mirror and it's cutesy loli protag who made hentai noises every five seconds. Not to hate on the devs, but. . . :( they jump started the saturation of the market.
I have enjoyed some RPG Horror. I liked Ib, Dreaming Mary, and The WItches House. But most of these tumblr games are just trying to copy Pocket Mirror.
